Position Title: Plumber
Department: Facilities Management
Reports to: Supervisor for Utilities & Energy Management
Appointment: Full-time – 40 hours per week
Salary: $45.85 per hour
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
University plumbers work with all types of potable water pipe repair and installation; building drain and sanitary drainage system and related ventilation system; plumbing fixture repair and installation; fire protection piping and the repair, maintenance, and installation of control devices within these systems; perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be member in good standing and be able to provide proof of current membership in the Plumbers’ Local Union No. 63 affiliated with the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing Industry of the United States and Canada; minimum of five (5) years experience as a Journeyman in all aspects of commercial and or industrial plumbing repair, maintenance and new installations; ability to take instruction from several sources; ability to work/interact with diverse groups of people demonstrating respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; effective communication and interpersonal skills; good attendance/work records and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications backflow preventer certification, med gas certification ** Please attach photocopy of any certificates and/or licenses to application

Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform essential functions of position with or without reasonable accommodations, i.e., stand, bend, reach, push, pull, climb, etc.; tolerate constant or extreme noise, speak and write, independently handle up to 50 pounds; visual ability sufficient to safely and effectively operate equipment, hearing ability sufficient to hear statements and hold conversations through earpiece and in person; speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals; work environment is indoor and outdoor.
