Job Location: Oklahoma City Housing Authority - Oklahoma City, OK 73117
Salary Range: $40,012.00 - $60,018.00 SalarySCOPE:
The Plumber is responsible for performing skilled plumbing work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing systems and fixtures throughout Oklahoma City Housing Authority residential communities, administrative offices, and maintenance facilities. Work includes responding to resident service requests, preparing vacant units for occupancy, preventive maintenance activities, and emergency repairs.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
Directly responsible to the Director of Technical Services.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Ensures that plumbing systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes.
Ensures the technical correctness of tasks performed.
Evaluates assigned tasks, makes work plans and estimates the work hours, materials, tools, cost and time required to complete the task.
Plans, assigns, supervises, inspects, and evaluates the work of subordinates.
Performs, directs and/or monitors work which is directly related to license.
Instructs and trains other employees in safe and proper operating practices for equipment and tools.
Responds to after-hours and emergency calls. (nights and weekends)
Responds to resident work orders issued in occupied units.  Document and record work order history in Housing Authority’s web-based application.
Test plumbing systems for proper operation and code compliance.  Performs preventive maintenance inspection of plumbing systems and equipment.
Responds to OKIE811 utility locates for natural gas, both standard and emergency locate.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma, or equivalent. Three years plumbing apprentice or trade school with two years field experience in commercial and residential plumbing work.
Valid Oklahoma Journeyman Plumber License.
Possess average knowledge of drawings common to construction.
Ability to accomplish assigned tasks with little supervision, as well as recognize and take appropriate action on unassigned tasks.
Supervisory ability.  Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies.  Possess a valid Oklahoma Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
Master Meter OQ, Bucket Truck Safety, and Excavator Operator certifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working in public housing, multifamily housing, property management, or government facilities.
Department of Labor Boiler certification.
Experience of using computerized maintenance management systems (SMMS).
PHYSICAL:
Near vision sufficient to prepare and read work orders, blueprints, construction specifications, computer generated products, and forms.  Hearing and speech sufficiently to communicate effectively in person and by radio and telephone.  Ability to access all areas of all Authority properties. All physical requirements are evaluated based on the ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation under the ADA.
This position is not eligible to telework.

OCHA has several housing programs that assist in fulfilling our mission. OCHA owns and operates 2,920 Public Housing Apartments that are directly subsidized by HUD. In addition to the Public Housing Program, OCHA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program which is also funded by HUD. Our Housing Choice Voucher Program provides 4,696 vouchers used by low-income families to cover a portion of the monthly rent for privately owned apartments or homes. In total, OCHA provides 7,616 units of low-income assisted housing in all areas of Oklahoma City.
