The Opportunity:
The Platforms & Management Technologies Lead & Subject Matter Expert serves as the senior technical authority for enterprise infrastructure platforms supporting U.S. European Command (EUCOM) J6 Operations. This role leads a multi-disciplinary team of administrators and engineers responsible for the design, engineering, operations, and sustainment of Windows and Linux enterprise services across a mission-critical, STIG-compliant environment. The Lead drives platform architecture decisions, manages competing operational and project priorities, and ensures alignment between engineering execution and program-level objectives and operations. This position requires a proven ability to operate independently in a high-visibility environment, translate strategic requirements into actionable engineering & operational work, and serve as the primary escalation point for complex cross-domain infrastructure issues.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of infrastructure administrators and engineers responsible for Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, MECM/SCCM, SCOM, ADFS, PKI/OCSP, CyberArk Privileged Access Management, SQL Services, and Enterprise Linux platforms.
• Serve as the technical authority and escalation point for enterprise platform architecture decisions, system integrations, and cross-domain troubleshooting across a multi-site ACI network environment.
• Translate program, project, and PI-level objectives into clearly scoped, executable engineering tasks; challenge ambiguous requirements and refine delivery expectations with Project Managers, Product Owners, and government stakeholders.
• Own the operational health and availability of core identity, security, and endpoint management services across classified and unclassified enclaves.
• Drive adoption of engineering-first workflows including GitLab-based merge requests, peer review, infrastructure-as-code practices, and Git-backed change governance (AGPM integration) to improve auditability and reduce configuration drift.
• Plan and execute enterprise initiatives including OS migrations (Windows 11/RHEL9), endpoint management strategy (MECM for thick clients, GPO for VDI), monitoring modernization, and automation efforts using Ansible and GitLab CI.
• Manage privileged account lifecycle policies across SA/WA/DA tiers, including periodic access reviews, STIG compliance enforcement, and coordination with CyberArk vault infrastructure.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, networking, and architecture teams to ensure platform configurations meet DoD security requirements, STIG baselines, and mission resilience standards, including NIST SP 800-53 security controls, Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization processes, FIPS 140-2/140-3 cryptographic requirements, CNSS policies for national security systems, CCRI readiness criteria, DoD 8570/8140 workforce compliance, USCYBERCOM directives and TASKORDs, and alignment with the DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture
• Conduct capacity planning, sprint and backlog management, and resource allocation across concurrent project deliverables, operational sustainment, and unplanned incident response.
• Mentor and develop team members through structured training programs (Learn-Friday sessions), certification planning (CompTIA SecurityX, Red Hat), cross-training initiatives, and quarterly performance touchpoints.
• Interface with government leadership and senior military stakeholders to provide technical briefings, privileged account summaries, and architecture recommendations.
• Evaluate impacts of enterprise-level changes such as cloud migration initiatives, tooling ownership transitions, and evolving service architectures on platform operations and team workload.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, systems administration, and platform engineering within Department of Defense or Intelligence Community
