Job Description

LMI, a trusted government contractor with decades of experience delivering cutting-edge solutions, is seeking a driven and innovative Platform Engineer to support the deployment and maintenance of IronSled, a DevSecOps product tailored for government-authorized environments. IronSled accelerates software development and deployment in highly regulated environments by meeting stringent federal security requirements. The product streamlines accreditation processes for secure infrastructure within authorized government networks on cloud or on-premise systems. This position requires and active Secret clearance. This position can be performed remotely or hybrid (with occasional on-site work in government-authorized environments).

Responsibilities

  • Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, deployment, operation, and refinement using an agile methodology  
  • Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews  
  • Embrace the DevSecOps culture with a commitment to automate what can be automated  
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health  
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation; evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity  
  • Practice sustainable incident response and actively participate in retrospectives  

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of a Secret clearance required
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience as a DevSecOps Engineer  
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience programming in Python. Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks  
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills and a sense of drive  
  • Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems  
  • Demonstrated experience building continuous, automated build and deploy pipelines  
  • Demonstrated experience in conditional procedure of build and deploy pipeline based on security scans of source and artifact  
  • Capable of working with software development team and platform infrastructure team to provide meaningful guidance to both for code development and deployment  
  • In-depth knowledge of version control of release artifacts to facilitate upgrade rollout and rollback  
  • Strong understanding of containerization of web applications  
  • Understanding and familiarity with container orchestration engines such as K8s (EKS, AKS, GKE, Kops, OpenShift)  
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD  
  • Experience with bash shell scripting 

Desired:

  • Agile, Lean, DevOps, Cloud, Security+ or other professional certification  
  • Familiarity with DoD IT standards and federal security standards strongly desired  
  • Knowledge of the Army software development process and its technologies
  • Hands-on experience using agile software development methodologies   
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a cross-functional agile team 
  • Experience working in a consultant/client environment 

Target salary range: $101,145 - $173,000
