A role you will love

The Platform Engineer is responsible for analysing user and technical problems across a wide range of both internal and external facing applications. They are also responsible for executing regular deployments on those applications. As a member of the team, they will be responsible for maintaining the appropriate Windows and Linux Server Environments, SSL and NetScaler (Citrix ADC) Configuration as well as the delivery of internal projects. This role requires good self-learning skills and adaptability to new situations.

Platform Engineer are responsible for managing Computershare’s build and deployment platforms and utilising them to drive towards continuous delivery. The team is also expected to contribute to Computershare’s technology stack by enhancing existing processes, including a substantial initiative towards automation.

The team is reliant on close collaboration with both operational and development teams. Acting as consultants, Platform Engineer are expected to assist other technology teams to configure environments and ensure the delivery of robust applications and services.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • All releases are planned and scheduled in line with Computershare ITIL practices.
  • Release Schedules cover all relevant tasks.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aware of release timelines and raise issues early.
  • Ensure all release artefacts are recorded and published in line with governance practices.
  • Manage support queues within Service Level Agreement/s to meet or exceed SLA.
  • Change approval process followed prior to production deployment
  • Risks identified and mitigating controls are in place
  • System availability meets Service Level Agreement/s.
  • New functionality and new applications successfully transitioned into the existing operating model for support
  • Support processes are documented.
  • Knowledge base of known issues is kept up-to-date.
  • Successful implementation of technical projects for the Service Operations department
  • Systems are secure, problems are permanently resolved and processes are continually improved.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience with day-to-day platforms and products
    Preferred knowledge of Linux platform (Install, configure and maintain applications on Linux servers)
  • Experience with IBM WebSphere and Tomcat.
  • Knowledge of one or more from the following applications: Kofax, IBM DataStage, IBM FileNet, SAP Business Objects
  • Experience in Java and .Net Application Server management (IIS, Windows Services, Scheduled Tasks etc.) will be considered as an advantage
  • Exposure to or willingness to learn monitoring tools Alert Site, Dynatrace, and SumoLogic
  • Knowledge of the IT infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks, etc.) within a related industry
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technology in fast paced environment
  • Documentation and ability to follow user guides is critical for this role
  • Keep your knowledge up-to-date, experience as a technical resource for others, and ability to follow technological practices and standards
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills to resolve issues quickly and make decisions that meet customer objectives
  • Strong accountability and results-oriented, with ability to set priorities independently, provide follow-through, and meet objectives
  • Exposure to or willingness to learn process automation, namely PowerShell automation and Shell scripting

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with third party systems covering Finance / HR / CRM functions
  • Basic understanding of the fundamentals of financial markets
  • Good working knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL
  • Good understanding of other Infrastructure technologies
  • Knowledge of VSphere, Java and Microsoft .NET Stacks, Windows/Linux Server, Kofax, FileNet, DataStage, Business Objects, Azure DevOps, Netscaler, Octopus Deploy, Shell Scripting and/or PowerShell, HTML, XML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Web Services
  • Experience and knowledge with one of more technologies (RedHat OpenShift, IBM BPM/Cloudpak/Datastage/FileNet/ILMT
