Job Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on Canva’s scalability and long-term sustainability, as part of our mission to empower the world to design. Delivering a fully-featured product experience for every single user requires an ongoing focus on the value we provide to these users, and constantly ensuring that we’re committing our resources to maximising that value. It requires a deep business and product understanding to connect product value with ongoing costs, and to champion a culture of thoughtful optimisation.

You’ll partner with product managers and engineering leaders across the business to deeply understand how various product features and capabilities scale with usage, and ensure that we’re delivering maximum value with the new products and features we launch and support, both for our users and for the company.

This role delivers impact through influence, requires strong collaboration and alignment skills, and requires you to deliver a roadmap that is executed across multiple teams and groups within Canva.

What you’d be doing in this role

  • Partner with product, engineering and finance to develop a deep understand of Canva’s ongoing hosting considerations, and the factors that influence that at scale

  • Work with product leaders across planning cycles to implement optimisation strategies that deliver sustainable cost savings at scale

  • Own the cross-company roadmap for usage-based cost optimisation across Canva’s key product surface areas

  • Build sustainable patterns, practices and rituals that help product managers and leaders model the impact of proposed features and capabilities

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and achievements to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

You're probably a match if you have:

  • A strong blend of product sense and technical acumen to understand how product usage translates to our product architecture

  • Strong commercial sense to translate product usage into business, revenue and hosting cost impacts and outcomes

  • Strategic thinker with a track record of executing large-scale projects successfully across R&D and General & Administrative functions

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment is preferred.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into clearly understandable outcomes and implications will be essential to surfacing key tradeoffs and decisions to be made by senior leaders

  • Bonus experience - FinOps experience in a high-growth tech company

About Canva

We're a global online visual communications platform on a mission to empower the world to design. Featuring a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, documents, websites, social media graphics, posters, apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful on Canva on any device, from anywhere in the world.

Since our launch in 2013, we’ve had the crazy big goal of making design accessible to everyone. We were founded on the belief that people shouldn't need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. We’re leveling the playing field and democratizing access to design and visual communication by empowering 100% of the world to communicate in a way that was once limited to the 1%.

We've always had a deeper mission surrounding Canva — which we talk about as our 'simple' two-step plan: to build one of the world’s most valuable companies, and to do the most good we possibly can. We're committed to our core value of Being a Force for Good, so as the value of our company grows, so too does our ability to have a positive impact on the world.
