Job Description

Would you like a role that makes a real world impact? The growth of online harms in the world of social media has been exponential and can present itself at all levels of society. Users of social media are continually being bombarded with potentially harmful, illegal, hateful, violent, inauthentic and misattributed content. Fighting these risks on social media requires dynamism and fluidity to face each problem individually and appropriately, whilst also applying a consistent lens of investigative curiosity.

Our intelligence makes a huge difference; every year we protect millions of the most vulnerable from the most egregious forms of exploitation.

Within the Platform Trust & Safety Team at Resolver, you will be identifying online threats across a number of risk areas. We are excited to be growing our team and are hiring a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Child Safety vertical. This role is ideal for anyone wanting to use their previous professional experiences within research, intelligence, and analysis to make the internet a safer place for everyone.

About the role

The core focus in this role is to lead a component of subject matter expertise within the Platforms Team and its sub teams. Online harms can be difficult to research and analyse; which means a successful subject matter expert must be experienced in researching online harms, and understand the problem set in order to draw assessments that will support actionable outputs.

As the Platforms Subject Matter Expert, you serve as the central authority and domain expert for online harms, platform risks, and regulatory intelligence, in relation to your area of expertise, within the organization. Grounded in a rigorous research background—spanning academia, law enforcement, or trust & safety—you bridge deep domain expertise with practical execution, translating complex threat landscapes into actionable intelligence insights for global, multidisciplinary clients.

You lead work within your specialized risk vertical(s), acting as a trusted advisor to clients while keeping pace with emerging digital risks, societal harm trends, and international regulatory shifts. Through cross-functional collaboration with Data Science, Engineering, and Intelligence Analysts, you elevate the quality of intelligence deliverables, mentor analytical talent, and drive key client discussions.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong Research Background: Deep experience in research methodologies gained within academia, law enforcement, government/defense intelligence, or tech Trust & Safety environments.
  • Domain Expertise in Online Harms: Deep, nuanced understanding of social media platform risks, digital threats, threat actor behaviors, and emerging global regulatory frameworks governing online safety.
  • Intelligence Translation: Proven track record of converting academic or complex technical research into practical, executive-level intelligence insights.
  • Project Management Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in managing complex, multi-stakeholder research projects with strict delivery timelines.
  • OSINT/SOCMINT Proficiency: Advanced familiarity with Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT) tools, techniques, and ethics.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven success presenting to external, multidisciplinary client stakeholders.

Benefits

Our rewards are as unique as our culture and we want to attract the best candidates and retain them. Not only will we ensure your development is key, but you will be joining a fantastic team of like minded people who work together as one team to achieve a shared vision.

We offer an excellent salary and benefits package which includes;

  • Market competitive pay based on your skills and experience
  • Discretionary bonus scheme
  • 33 days holiday including bank holidays
