Job Description

Platform Engineer / Platform/Ops Engineer (Senior)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer / Platform/Ops Engineer to strengthen the operational stability, automation maturity, and engineering excellence of our Wholesale Banking Reporting & Cards landscape. This role is ideal for colleagues who enjoy working hands‑on with infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and deployment automation — while enabling delivery squads through reliable, secure, and scalable platform services.

You will work as part of the Platform squad, managing a large estate of virtual servers and supporting multiple critical applications across the domain.

What You’ll Do

  • Own day‑to‑day administration of a 300+ virtual server landscape, ensuring platform reliability and continuity.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (preferably Azure DevOps), and contribute to improvements in deployment automation, monitoring, alerting, and resilience.
  • Support delivery squads with regular platform service requests and troubleshooting during critical incidents, including clear and timely communication with stakeholders.
  • Enforce engineering standards, document best practices, and share knowledge across the area.
  • (Nice to have) Coordinate with vendors or external service providers to maintain platform stability and compliance.

About the Team

You will join the Wholesale Banking – Reporting & Cards technology area, operating within a large, business‑critical application landscape. As the Platform squad, we provide the foundational infrastructure and services that enable delivery squads to build, deploy, and operate their applications efficiently. We focus on stability, automation, observability, and continuous improvement.

The team collaborates closely with peers across countries and squads in a fully international setup.

What You Bring

Must‑have experience

  • 8+ years of hands‑on Linux administration and shell scripting.
  • 6+ years managing application environments, including Incident / Problem / Change / Release management.
  • Strong understanding of the software development and deployment lifecycle
  • Solid networking and infrastructure knowledge (cloud fundamentals, firewalls) and familiarity with protocols such as FTP, XFB, MQ, EMS
  • 4+ years building CI/CD pipelines (ideally Azure DevOps), experience with Ansible, and ability to write or analyze SQL.
  • A coaching mindset with strong analytical and proactive skills; comfortable voicing opinions constructively.
  • Agile/Scrum experience and ability to work effectively in an international environment.

Why Apply?

This role offers the opportunity to influence engineering standards, improve platform reliability at scale, and support a wide range of critical services across the Reporting & Cards landscape. You will directly contribute to automation, standardization, and operational resilience — while continuing to grow your technical depth in an environment that values ownership and continuous improvement.

If you enjoy combining infrastructure engineering with enabling others, this is an excellent next step for internal development.
