Job Description

At IO Interactive, we are looking for two Platform Engineers to join our Backbone team and play a key role in shaping the technical foundation behind our games and engine.

Our Platform Engineering team designs and builds our hybrid cloud environment. This platform supports cloud native workloads alongside desktop and console platforms, forming the backbone of our internal development ecosystem. You will contribute to modern infrastructure powering our Glacier engine and our AAA titles including Hitman, Project Fantasy, and our original James Bond game.

As part of Developer Services, you will work closely with IT and game development teams to establish the next generation of our build farm and orchestrate game servers and supporting services. This includes evaluating and implementing cloud native technologies, building and maintaining Kubernetes clusters, designing storage and datacenter networking solutions, and developing middleware in Go to bridge our CI CD pipelines with our private cloud infrastructure.

This is a hands on, high impact role for engineers who enjoy building robust platforms that enable others to create world class games.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate closely with Developers and IT teams to design, build, and deliver high-quality, reliable infrastructure solutions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and help embed DevOps best practices across the infrastructure lifecycle.

  • Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes-based systems, with a focus on reliability, observability, and maintainability.

  • Support our private cloud platform, contributing to critical systems like build farms, storage, and server orchestration.

  • Contribute to strategic decisions on platform architecture, tooling, and DevOps practices.

  • Write robust, maintainable, and efficient code in Golang to support platform automation and infrastructure services.

Who you are

  • An experienced software development engineer in infrastructure or IT operations professional with hands-on experience building automation tools.

  • Deep expertise in Linux administration, Kubernetes, and Public Cloud platforms. Experience with Private Cloud environments and bare metal systems is a strong plus.

  • Comfortable designing and building infrastructure automation; proficiency with Golang is a strong advantage.

  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, including load balancing, routing, and performance troubleshooting.

  • Well-versed in DevOps and SRE methodologies, including GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proactive, curious, and motivated to drive technical decisions, mentor peers, and improve platform reliability across distributed systems.

IO Interactive is a 25-year old, AAA independent game studio, creators of HITMAN, Kane & Lynch, Mini Ninjas and Freedom Fighters. We are currently working on 007 First Light, Project Fantasy, and continue to develop Glacier, our award-winning game engine.
