Are you a recent graduate who is curious about databases, automation, cloud platforms and AI? The Bank of Canada is looking for a Platform DevOps Analyst specializing in cloud and databases to join Information Technology Services (ITS). This entry-level opportunity is designed for someone who wants to build hands-on experience, learn from experienced professionals, and help improve the reliability, automation and performance of enterprise database platforms.
This role is built for learning, experimentation, and growth. You will contribute directly to database platform operations, automation, and continuous improvement while working with experienced team members across on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments. You will also have the opportunity to explore how DevOps practices and AI-assisted tools can improve delivery, troubleshooting, and operational insight.
What to expect
This role may support a range of database platform initiatives based on operational priorities, including platform modernization, automation, cloud enablement, service reliability and continuous improvement.
What you will do
In this role, you will help support and improve enterprise database services while building practical experience in automation, operations and modern platform delivery.
Your knowledge and skills
You should bring a foundation in database concepts, database administration practices or data platform fundamentals, along with familiarity with scripting or automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash or similar. You should also have an interest in DevOps concepts such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, version control and repeatable deployments, as well as the ability to analyze information, troubleshoot issues and approach technical problems with curiosity and sound judgment.
Strong communication, collaboration and documentation skills are important, along with a self-starter mindset and an interest in learning through hands-on work, experimentation and continuous improvement. Curiosity about AI and how it can be applied responsibly to improve platform operations, analysis and automation would also support success in this role.
What you will learn and gain in experience
You will gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise database platforms across operational environments, including exposure to automation, scripting and DevOps tooling that improves reliability and reduces manual effort. You will build practical knowledge of monitoring, alerting, performance analysis and incident support, while contributing to platform modernization, resiliency improvements and engineering standards.
You will also develop an understanding of modern database operations across on-premises, hybrid and cloud-based service models, including how AI-enabled tools can support knowledge discovery, troubleshooting and workflow efficiency.
