Job Description

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. Supports Plant operations by supplying transport services using dump truck, forklift, and other variety of Company equipment to haul Plant production byproduct in a manner consistent with safety, quality, and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Timely removal of rock, vegetable debris, and Plant waste via dump truck and/or forklift.
  • Utilize forklift to ensure frozen totes are dumped and hauled to pit.
  • Assists and supports in various Plant operational needs.
  • Ensures compliance with DOT regulations regarding trucks and drivers.
  • Maintain a valid Class B or Class A CDL and valid Medical Certificate
  • May assist with training other personnel
  • Ensures that equipment in assigned area of operations is monitored and properly maintained.
  • Ensures that necessary level of communication is maintained with team members and support groups.
  • Ensures sanitation of equipment and work area during operations and proper cleaning during downtimes.
  • Utilizes computer and computer programs to communicate, document, and track shift information and ensures that all documents and reports are completed accurately in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Transportation, DOT/FMCSA, and Plant Policies.
  • Ensures that interaction with team members and other support groups is conducted in a participative style conducive with operational goals. 
  • Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
  • Perform Pre/Post Trip Inspections on Company equipment
  • The ability to notice, resolve, and/or repair routine or serious problems, understanding of when to report issues to others as necessary. 
  • Ability to operate small equipment and tools to maintain plant operations.
  • Must be willing to accept a wide variety of job assignments and work under general direction in a fast-paced environment.

Typical Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CDL Truck Driver school

Relevant Experience

  • Must have six months relative driving experience
  • Experience/certification with a forklift and dump truck is preferred.
  • Basic FMCSA Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of input into computer systems and retrieval of data to facilitate job duties.
  • Able to perform basic math (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Knowledge of Production operations.
  • Knowledge of standard repair procedures within the scope of the job and solve routine problems.
  • Able to read and interpret technical data and manuals associated with the job.

Required Certifications

  • A valid Class B or Class A CDL
  • A valid Medical Certificate

  • Must be able to hook up and unhook trucks and related lines to and from trailer  
  • The employee is required to climb and balance while getting in and out of the truck and while hooking and unhooking lines to and from the trailer. 
  • The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
