The Plant (Site) Manager is the on-site leader responsible for the safe, compliant, reliable, and profitable operation of a Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facility. This includes full oversight of the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS), wellfield, RNG processing plant, and associated compression and pipeline systems.

This role serves as the primary interface between landfill operations and RNG operations, ensuring strong coordination on filling plans, active face changes, well installations, and gas quality impacts. The Site Manager ensures operational alignment between landfill stakeholders, landfill activities and RNG production goals.

The Site Manager owns site-level performance and accountability, including safety, environmental compliance, production targets, cost control, and site P&L performance. This role leads site personnel and contractors while promoting a strong culture of safety,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include

  • Site Leadership & Accountability
    • Serve as the site leader with responsibility for safety, compliance, production, and financial performance.
    • Own and manage site-level P&L, including OPEX budgeting, cost control, and vendor management.
    • Build and maintain a strong safety-first and accountability-driven culture.
  • Operations Management
    • Oversee daily operations of:
      • Landfill gas wellfield and GCCS
      • RNG processing and upgrading systems
      • Compression, metering, and pipeline/interconnect systems
    • Monitor and drive key performance indicators such as uptime, methane recovery, gas quality, and throughput.
    • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for operational issues.
    • Ensure production targets and gas quality specifications are met.
  • Landfill Coordination
    • Act as primary liaison with landfill management regarding:
      • Active face movement
      • Cell development and capping schedules
      • Waste placement impacts on gas recovery
      • Protection and repair of GCCS infrastructure
    • Coordinate gas-chasing strategies and wellfield adjustments to maximize recovery.
  • Maintenance & Reliability
    • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for GCCS, plant, and pipeline assets.
    • Ensure proper use of CMMS for work orders and asset tracking.
    • Manage critical spares and maintenance planning.
    • Coordinate major repairs, outages, and system upgrades.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce company safety programs including LOTO, confined space, hot work, permit-to-work, and MOC.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and applicable regulations.
    • Support reporting requirements related to RINs, LCFS, and gas quality.
    • Lead or support incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management
    • Manage third-party contractors performing O&M, construction, or specialty services.
    • Ensure contractor safety and performance expectations are met.
    • Review scopes of work and approve contractor invoices.
  • Project & Change Management
    • Participate in design reviews and capital projects.
    • Evaluate and implement changes through the MOC process.
    • Review third-party engineering deliverables for operability and constructability.
  • Team Leadership
    • Supervise and develop site operators and technicians.
    • Conduct training, performance reviews, and competency development.
    • Promote a multi-skilled workforce capable of supporting GCCS, plant, and pipeline operations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in RNG, landfill gas, biogas, midstream gas, or industrial process operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and process systems.
  • Experience managing budgets and cost control strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with P&IDs and process troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in field and industrial environments.
