The Plant Services Laborer performs a variety of assignments pertaining to cleaning, painting, and maintenance support duties. This position also assists operations and maintenance team members when required. This is a full- time hourly position, reporting to Vicinity Energy in Grand Rapids, MI.

Responsibilities

• Uses hand and power tools to maintain/repair equipment.
• Performs a variety of assignments pertaining to cleaning duties, also assists crafts people when required.
• Maintain proper lubrication of equipment.
• Maintains exterior grounds of plant, including cleanup of sidewalks & drives, snow removal & salting, clean up of water and refuse.
• Perform painting of interior and exterior structures, systems and equipment.
• Performs cleaning and housekeeping of interior spaces of the power plant.
• Obtain and deliver materials and supplies, drive company vehicles.
• Performs utility labor.
• Assist others as required.
• All other related duties.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in industrial and electric generation locations.

Other Qualifications

• Must be able to work close to operating equipment safely and without interruption of service.
• Have a good safety record.
• Must be willing to take and perform orders intelligently and to work harmoniously with other employees.

Physical Requirements

• Must submit to company required pre-employment drug screening and physical exam.
• Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company.
• Required to wear a half face, full face or powered air respirators (PAPR) when proper safety procedures warrant use.
• Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, etc., weighing up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
• Required to work in confined spaces.
• Required climbing ladders, and / or stairs.
• Required to work in hot areas.
• Ability to perform modestly heavy physical work outdoors/ indoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
