Job Description

The Plant Project Planning & Controls Manager is responsible for leading plant-related projects and planning activities to ensure effective execution, schedule control, budget management, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This role supports plant operations by developing project plans, monitoring performance, improving workflows, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with engineering, operations, procurement, supply chain, vendors, and customers in a multicultural project environment. The Project Manager will need to be self-motivated and very well organized, always ready with his in-time status reports, always ready to mitigate risks and take advantages of opportunities, during the project life cycle from sales to warranty end.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate internal teams, vendors, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution
  • Track project progress and adjust plans as needed to meet objectives
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and cost
  • Support the execution of international projects in multicultural environments
  • Organize and manage communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle
  • Approving project-related purchase orders in accordance with the current Delegation of Authority

Planning and Controls

  • Develop and manage planning strategies that support business and plant operational objectives
  • Create and maintain project, workforce, production, or supply plans as required
  • Ensure alignment between short-term schedules and long-term strategic plans for the plant.
  • Monitor risks, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and resource constraints that may affect project & plant or operational performance
  • Provide regular progress updates, performance reports, and recommendations to management

Reporting and Systems

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance reports, dashboards, databases, and tracking tools
  • Build and manage databases using any tool.
  • Create advanced Excel models, formulas, pivot tables, charts, and automated reports
  • Use Smartsheet to manage workflows, project tracking, and reporting
  • Analyze trends, identify issues, and provide actionable recommendations based on data

Workflow and Continuous Improvement

  • Manage and monitor workflow processes across teams or departments
  • Coordinate task assignments, priorities, and resource allocation
  • Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Lead and support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and other process improvement activities
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies aligned with business objectives

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide overall management of assigned projects
  • Build and lead the project team in coordination with functional leaders
  • Support performance feedback and development discussions for team members
  • Ensure delegation of authority is aligned with current company policies and procedures

Health and Safety

  • Contribute to EHS plan, operation department development & unit continuous improvements
  • Lead EHS/safety actions and performance by being fully compliant with GE rules and processes, ensure project teams (own and subcontracted) are properly trained and holders of required qualifications when required.
  • Follow GE compliance Policies (The Spirit and The Letter’) and promote open reporting

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project management, planning, or plant operations in a similar industry
  • Experience managing international projects in multicultural environments
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet
  • Experience planning, developing reports, dashboards, and tracking tools
  • The legal right to work in KSA without company sponsorship or time restriction
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Desired Characteristics

  • Fluent in Arabic
  • Technical knowledge of protection, substation automation, and communication technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Power BI, SQL, or similar reporting/database tools
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Smartsheet administration and reporting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Good organizational and stakeholder management skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work across functions
  • Continuous improvement and Lean mindset
