Job Description

This position sits within the SEQ Track Renewals Re-Sleepering team within our SEQ Track and Civil Infrastructure business based at our Brisbane Airport depot.

We are looking for a self-motivated highly experienced Plant Operator interested in diversifying their industry experience into rail civil infrastructure. We offer training and development including the opportunity to complete a Certificate II in Track Rail Infrastructure

You will work in a semi-autonomous team operating civil machinery such as excavators and loaders. Once trained you will have the opportunity to operate specialised rail plant required for sleeper replacement.

Desirable but not essential for this position:

  • Civil Plant licences/tickets – preferably excavator and loader desirable
  • Truck Licence
  • Cert 2 in Rail Infrastructure

Hours and Salary:

The teamwork throughout the entire Queensland Rail Network at sites in SEQ and across the State, as such there will be a requirement to work away from home roughly 80%

When working regionally you can expect a 9 on 5 off roster, usually Monday to the following Tuesday including the weekend - Working away allowance and penalty rates apply.

When working around SEQ you are expected to work regular weekends, on average every second weekend - Penalty rates apply.

In both SEQ and Regionally, hours are usually 0600hrs to 1600hrs. At times night shift is required based on business needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Operate plant / equipment ensuring all aspects of works are carried out in an efficient and safe manner in accordance with all relevant manuals and track standards.
  • Perform duties of Trackworker as required (manual labour).
  • Operate Plant / equipment to ensure total compliance to Queensland Rail's policies/rules and safe working procedures
