Job Description
The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of process and utility systems in a production facility. This role ensures compliance with operational requirements and environmental guidelines while coordinating with maintenance and third-party personnel to optimize production and ensure accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
- Start up, operate, monitor, and shut down process and utility systems.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize process parameters (e.g., level, flow, temperature, pressure) within operating requirements.
- Ensure sampling is carried out, and act upon sample results.
- Troubleshoot to maximize sales quality and delivery volume and identify operational problems.
- Monitor and operate electrical/hydraulic control panels, safety and emergency shutdown devices, and Fire and Gas Systems.
- Ensure accurate production reporting is submitted daily or as required by company and client.
- Witness third-party calibrations to verify meter factors and volumes when appropriate.
- Prove export oil meters.
- Carry out all operations safely and in an environmentally sound manner. Operate the production facility in accordance with customer requirements.
- Test, calibrate, maintain, and inspect equipment.
- Perform mandatory paperwork required by customer
- Coordinate logistics for the facility.
- Handle and treat chemicals.
- Facilitate maintenance operations by applying/removing isolations as required.
- Operate under the Permit to Work (PTW) system, conduct Toolbox Talks, and perform Risk Assessments.
- Advise maintenance personnel on the hazards of plant and equipment.
- Maintain clear and precise communications during maintenance operations.
- Control activities of vendor and subcontractor personnel.
- Create and maintain effective working relationships.
- Foster and maintain a positive work culture.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of Oil and Gas experience required and/or Plant Operator specific experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Drilling experience accepted
- Process understanding
- Good experience with Permit to Work (PTW) system
- Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background check, drug test, MVR check, and fit for duty/agility test.
