Status: Full Time Permanent Position (Seasonal)

Location: MCASPHALT | Acheson Facility – 25710 Acheson Road, Acheson, AB, T7X 6B3
Reporting to: Facility Manager

The Facility Operator oversee the safe operation and maintenance of various equipment, tanks, controls, transfer systems, and other components within asphalt plant systems. Their responsibilities include moving rail cars, as well as loading and offloading trucks and rail cars. They play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of asphalt production processes while adhering to safety protocols and standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate plant automation and perform dispatching duties which includes documenting plant inventory transfers, production orders, and truck transfers.
  • Inventory counts including tank fluid levels. 
  • Off-loading / loading rail cars, trucks, totes, and pails
  • Supervise the addition of additives to truck loads.  
  • Site clean-up, including emptying pails, spill cleanup, clean pails, Drip trays.
  • Assist with plant maintenance and improvement.
  • Assist with production – solution & polymer preparation.
  • Milling asphalt and emulsion products
  • Blending system operations
  • Forklift operation.   
  • Positive interaction with customers truck drivers.
  • Participate in all emergency situations, accidents, and spills.
  • Other duties assigned by Plant Managers.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record required to operate any McAsphalt Vehicle.
  • A strong work ethic and ability to work in small team(s)
  • A reliable method of transportation to and from work in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, being responsible, resourceful and autonomous
  • Ability to work outdoors, at height and in all environments
  • Experience with pumps, piping, heat tracing, hot oil heaters will be considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communications in English with a strong interpersonal attitude
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel at the intermediate level with strong organizational skills
  • Lastly, a good sense of humor will also be a great asset
