Steritech is seeking an experienced and hands-on Team Lead Plant Operator to support the safe and effective operation of our sterilisation plant, equipment and associated warehouse and logistics activities, located in Mickleham.

Internally known as the Team Lead Plant Operator, this role combines operational duties with shift coordination, technical support and people leadership. You will work alongside the team to maintain safe and efficient plant, warehouse, processing and dispatch activities while providing direction, training and support.

This is a Full-time day shift position, working 12-hour shifts across a 7-day fortnightly roster, including every second weekend.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Working hands-on across product receipt, WMS data entry, forklift operation, load preparation, processing and dispatch
  • Leading and coordinating shift workflow, task allocation and routine plant start-up and shutdown activities
  • Monitoring plant systems, control panels and operational indicators to identify and respond to irregularities
  • Providing real-time technical guidance, problem-solving and decision-making support to Plant Operators
  • Acting as an escalation point for complex processes, equipment faults and operational issues
  • Ensuring product checks, processing activities and operational documentation are completed accurately and in accordance with procedures
  • Maintaining required safety, quality, environmental, PPE, hygiene and housekeeping standards
  • Completing routine inspections, pre-start checks, preventative maintenance and minor repairs within your competency
  • Supervising, onboarding, training and coaching Plant Operators to build team capability
  • Setting expectations, providing feedback, conducting 1:1s and managing employee performance
  • Managing rostering, leave and shift resourcing while supporting fatigue management and employee wellbeing
  • Leading shift handovers and team communication and supporting recruitment and continuous improvement activities

Key Requirements – About You

You will be an experienced and practical operational Team Lead who is comfortable working alongside your team in a busy plant, warehouse or manufacturing environment.

You will be able to coordinate people and operational priorities, make sound decisions and respond calmly to technical, performance or interpersonal issues. You will communicate clearly, lead by example and support employees to develop and perform effectively.

You will also bring strong technical aptitude, attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety, quality and following established procedures.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or regulated manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising, training, coaching and managing employee performance
  • Strong communication, organisation and attention to detail
  • Current LF Forklift Licence and practical forklift experience
  • Current driver’s licence and/or reliable transport to and from the site
  • Availability to work 12-hour day or night shifts, including every second weekend
  • Physical capability to complete manual handling and active operational duties
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and accurate data-entry skills
  • Confidence learning and using warehouse, transport booking or other operational systems
  • Strong safety awareness, attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Current First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain it
  • Quarantine Approved certification, or the ability to obtain it

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Completion of secondary education to VCE, VCAL or equivalent
  • Certificate III in Process Plant Operations, Plant Operations or a related field
  • Experience in sterilisation, irradiation, biosecurity, GMP, medical device, healthcare or another regulated environment
