Plant Mechanic – Red Hills Power Plant

Job Requirements

Experience in the maintenance of power plant systems and equipment, such as boilers, steam & gas turbines and auxiliary equipment, which includes experience with rotating equipment, pumps, fans, valves, piping, oil / hydraulic systems, conveyors, crushers, and gearboxes. This position is responsible for using and updating plant maintenance records in a computer-based work order management system, Maximo.

Education Requirements:

  • Two-year technical certification, and/or an associate’s degree in a Mechanical discipline preferred or equivalent experience is required.

Job Knowledge

  • Experience in the Industrial Maintenance field is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, repair and/or replace mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, bearings, motors, valves, augers, crushers, gearboxes, etc.
  • You must have the ability to read and understand plant system / equipment prints and drawings as well as read and understand technical literature.
  • Must have skills to operate power tools and various hand tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Significant welding knowledge and experience is Required. (TIG, MIG, Stick)

  • You must be willing to work in a team environment, learn and take on increased responsibilities, demonstrate effective communication skills, understand and follow safety procedures, and be self-motivated.
  • Must be able to support 24/7 schedule, including holiday and back shift work when necessary as well as call-out situations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good oral/written communication skills and ability to work effectively with varied individuals (craft personnel, support staff, supervisory staff, and management) is a must
  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management, project management, facilitation and analytical skills are required
  • Self-motivation and demonstrated initiative are crucial for this position
  • Must be willing to work as part of a team and willing to foster an inclusive environment
  • In-depth knowledge of coal-fired power plant systems (boiler, turbine, generator, feedwater, etc.) desired.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and/or holidays as needed
  • Must be available to work extended hours as needed
  • Must understand and exemplify the values of Safety First, Intentional Inclusion, Act with Integrity, and Superior performance
  • Must Successfully pass POSS and MASS testing- Required.
