This position is responsible for all functional areas of a poultry processing plant, including the efficient operation of three production shifts, maintenance, personnel safety, shipping and receiving, sanitation, scheduling, quality, and process improvement.
Additional responsibilities include motivating managers to provide guidance and implement programs that enhance employee skill levels; resolving issues related to the quality of incoming and outgoing goods; and reviewing cost and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
This role also involves compiling monthly expense and efficiency reports, promoting and explaining the Total Quality Management (TQM) philosophy to employees, and obtaining approval for and executing all plant capital improvement projects.
The position is responsible for facilitating Talent Mapping and Succession Planning programs and supporting retention initiatives. Accountability for food safety, food quality, and regulatory compliance is required.
Other duties include initiating and implementing improvements across all phases of production, assisting in identifying, evaluating, and resolving operational issues, and performing additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a general professional or technical field, or equivalent experience, is required.
Experience:
A minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience is required. Experience in the food processing industry is preferred.
Computer Skills:
General knowledge of computer programs used in plant operations, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), is required. Working knowledge of SAP systems is preferred.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Travel:
Ability to travel approximately 6 to 11 trips per year.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for managing multiple groups of personnel performing diverse tasks across more than one department.
