Job Description

This position is responsible for providing day to day supervision and leadership to the entire staff at the plant. The responsibility of this position includes planning and assigning work; meeting production schedules, implementing policies and procedures; developing subordinates; and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. The Plant Manager will also work closely with the Operations / Planning Manager to plan raw materials and equipment capacity. This position is also responsible for managing costs of the facility and reporting KPIs and monthly progress to management, as well as managing the facility consistent with safety and operating policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage production, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Responsible for safety, quality, productivity, and performance of the facility.
  • Determine/implement departmental policy, goals/objectives/procedures working with executive management.
  • Determine staffing requirements. Interview, hire, and train personnel.
  • Maintain regular communication with the COO and supporting functional Directors.
  • Ensure that the designated shipping goals are met for the plant.
  • Responsible for all budget matters to include raw material usage, utility usage and efficiency, operating supplies, and labor spending.
  • Leadcost savings improvement processes.
  • Maintain safety, quality, cleanliness, and production standards of Hocking International.
  • Instruct employees as to their duties.
  • Monitor employee behaviors and assess the quality of the work performed.
  • Instruct, train, evaluate, and develop employees.
  • Organize and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Take disciplinary action if situation requires it.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and appreciation of deadlines are essential.
  • Strong leadership skills, a positive attitude, and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize, and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners to find appropriate resolutions and efficiencies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum seven years’ experience in Chemical Processing Industry, at least five years chemical plant manufacturing experience.
  • Five years of Supervision experience.
  • Experience with batch chemical manufacturing and packaging processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or five years plant management experience in a chemical environment.

  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • The vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time.
