Yard: 101NC

Schedule: Management teams are required to be on call 24/7 to ensure smooth operations.

Reports To: Operations Director

Direct Reports: All Plant Personnel & Facilities Maintenance

Salary: $85-95k, DOE + Bonus Opportunity

Role Overview: The Plant Manager oversees all daily operations of the facility to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective production. This leadership role is responsible for managing personnel, processes, quality control, safety compliance, and maintenance while driving continuous improvement and meeting business objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (others may arise as business needs dictate):

  • Understand, uphold, and communicate regularly the Company’s vision, mission and core values.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, the Safety Manual, The Animal Food Safety Plan, and Safe Food, Safe Feed guidelines.
  • Fully responsible and accountable for all processing, drying, maintenance, and cleaning operations at 101 Plant.
  • Track and manage KPIs to confirm the plant is operating at peak performance.
  • Responsible for supervision and organization of all processing, drying, and maintenance activities and employees on all shifts.
  • Confirm adequate staffing for all shifts including hiring and terminations, coordinate staffing coverage for employee time off, discipline employees as needed in accordance with 101 procedures, and communicate staffing needs with VP of Operations and HR.
  • Manage direct reports in the completion of all documentation, analysis, reporting, and training.
  • Confirm procedural consistency (cGMPs) in all activities; assist in creating new and revising existing cGMPs.
  • Provide training to all team members; be educated on the latest procedures and confirm all processing employees are following them.
  • Review and coordinate load scheduling, understand schedule priorities and forecasts, and communicate load completion with Dispatch, Processing Teams, Drying Teams, and Operations Coordinators.
  • Communicate production projections daily.
  • Forecast liquid and powder feed production and adjust plant schedules to stay ahead of inbound loads.
  • Develop, monitor, and update schedule for processing and drying teams. Coordinate with dispatch and sales teams to manage labor and equipment operation across multiple shifts/runs.
  • Process loads completely and efficiently.
  • Manage liquid, powder, waste and recycling flow in and out of the plant.
  • Confirm manhours and liquid production are in line with typical efficient production expectations.
  • Observe condition of the plant and grounds areas at all times; coordinate cleaning activity to maintain all 101 standards.
  • Manage the dock appropriately. Move materials off the dock quickly. Confirm the dock floor is clean, clear, and orderly at all times.
  • Train and confirm load documentation and math totals are correct for every load and all loads are accounted for, for all shifts. Within one day of processing loads, provide completed destruction documentation.
  • Prepare products for outbound shipment, including sampling, inventory, and labeling.
  • Confirm daily supervisor checklists are being completed.
  • Organize parking area. Coordinate parking of all 101 and 3rd party trailers so they are uniform and safe from damage.
  • Complete RIMAS Equipment Manager (Yard Manager) at the beginning, throughout, and the end of every workday for effective communication with dispatch.
  • Complete Evaporator/Drying Data Sheets at the beginning, throughout and the end of every workday for historical data and troubleshooting.
  • Learn and obtain all necessary certifications to operate processing and drying equipment. Coordinate certifications and provide testing and certifications for processing employees.
  • Obtain AFIA QI (Qualified Individual) and PCQI (Preventative Controls Qualified Individual) training and keep 101 plant facility in compliance.
  • Review and approve payroll weekly.
  • Know how to operate all equipment efficiently and understand when it needs maintenance. Assist with preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with processing schedule.
  • Confirm adequate inventory of materials is at the facility for continuous operations.
  • Troubleshoot all mechanical issues and repair as needed to ensure optimal uptime.
  • Complete all preventative maintenance schedules as needed.
  • Responsible for 24-hour emergency troubleshooting and operational issues.
  • Understand safety policies and stop unsafe activity; follow up with incident report completion and corrective action.
  • Work with 101 Safety & Compliance team to confirm all plant activities are safe for employees and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Attend all Company meetings and trainings as directed by management.
  • Pursue and recommend industry and leadership development training programs for review.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory, operations, production, warehouse, logistic, food/feed processing, manufacturing, recycling, agricultural, or similar industrial leadership experience.
  • Prior experience supervising hourly employees and a hands-on work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce safety standards, maintain workplace discipline, and address performance or conduct concerns. Experience managing daily workflow, staffing priorities, productivity expectations, and operational follow-through. Ability to monitor, understand, and manage operational KPIs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at different levels of the organization. Ability to build trust and rapport with a bilingual and Spanish speaking workforce.
  • Basic computer skills, including e-mail, time keeping systems, production reporting, spreadsheets, and KPI tracking. Ability to travel out of state for approximately First two months of employment for training across sister sites.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to noise, odors, wet areas, dairy, moving equipment, and changing temperatures.
  • Experience in food processing, feed processing, recycling, rendering, dairy, liquid handling, waste stream processing, agricultural processing, or related operations, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with OSHA standards, CGMPS, food/feed safety, forklift safety, lockout/tagout, sanitation, preventive maintenance, or similar safety and quality programs.
  • Experience working with drivers, dispatch, tankers, loading/unloading, yard activity, or transportation adjacent operations.
  • Experience improving underperforming teams, stabilizing operations, or implementing consistent plant standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a plant/processing environment with regular exposure to noise, odors, wet or slippery surfaces, moving equipment, forklifts, trucks, trailers, and changing temperatures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry items consistent with plant operations, subject to company safety guidelines.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, which may includes non slip safety shoes, high visibility apparel, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, hard hat, or other site require equipment.
  • Ability to work around industrial equipment, production areas, loading unloading activity, and vehicle traffic.
  • Ability to respond to operational needs outside of standard business hours when necessary.
  • Ability to travel out of state during the initial training period and periodically thereafter as business needs require.
