Join Vestis in Lawrence, MA as a 2nd shift Maintenance Mechanic and earn a $5,000 sign-on bonus! Receive $1,500 after 90 days, $1,500 after 180 days, and $2,000 after one year. We’re looking for a safety-focused, team-oriented professional to help keep our industrial laundry facility in Lawrence, MA, running at its best. In this hands-on role, you’ll perform scheduled preventive maintenance, respond to emergency repairs, and install, maintain, and repair facility equipment, machinery, structures, and electrical systems—all while supporting our strong culture of safety.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 2pm–10:30pm

Primary Job Duties:

  • Maintaining, as well as repairing all plant equipment including high volume industrial washers, dryers, rail and trolley systems, Presses, and ironers, etc. Emergency repairs on equipment when necessary
  • Assists other technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Completes work orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop)
  • Operates powered equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, conveyor equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, dock equipment, electronic and electrical equipment, etc.) according to safety and quality procedures
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex electrical/electronic problems with equipment, networks, PC logic controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and external Input/Output (I/O) devices where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious
  • Assists in the development of specific technical and training documentation; assists in the development of Technical Support
  • Provides resolutions to mechanical, technical/controls issues; documents all information relating to customer support issues in CMMS database; utilizes resources in other departments (when necessary) to expedite the resolution of equipment issues
  • Provides information to management to enhance Customer Service success
  • Follows up with other departments to ensure issues have been resolved
  • Participates in cleaning the equipment as appropriate
  • Completes appropriate paperwork in a timely manner
  • Adheres to all department and company standards, operating procedures and safety requirements while contributing to improvement
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Dedication to promoting a strong culture of safety
  • Demonstrated mechanical and basic electrical aptitude
  • Skills in welding, hand and power tools and electrical motors
  • Computer literate, familiarity with Internet based software, MS Office, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial laundry equipment (not required)
  • Ability to comprehend and perform all required training
  • Proficiency in written, and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work on a set schedule, Overtime may be required if needed
  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding/metal fabrication is a big plus
  • Proficiency in utilizing electric meters, or ability to learn

Experience

  • Industrial Laundry experience a plus but not required.
  • 1-3 years of Mechanical experience required.
  • 1-3 Electromechanical experience preferred.
  • 2 – 4 years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, HAZmat procedures and regulations helpful
  • Excellent mechanical dexterity and ability

Location: 110 Glenn St, Lawrence, Massachusetts Surrounding areas: Andover, North Andover

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position ranges from $32.00 to $39.00 depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors.

Sign-on Bonus: Receive $1,500 after completing 90 days of employment, $1,500 after 180 days, and $2,000 after one year of employment.

Working Environment/Safety Requirements: Work is performed in a high-volume production warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions; Requires the ability to routinely move, lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.; Requires bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, and lifting; Requires the use of hands for grasping and other manipulations; Requires standing and walking for long periods of time; Must be able to work from elevated heights using ladders, mezzanines, and aerial lifts. Must have physical stamina (i.e., on one's feet for twelve hours a day on a concrete floor in a hot humid environment).
