The Maintenance Manager oversees the day-to-day and long-term maintenance of all plant systems, equipment, and infrastructure—including gas and steam turbines, chillers, water treatment systems, electrical systems, instrumentation, and control networks. This role leads all maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, and corrective programs, and is essential to ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, safety, and overall plant performance.
Operating with a high level of autonomy, the Maintenance Manager is a strategic leader and technical expert—responsible for solving complex challenges, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, and cultivating a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct the maintenance and repair of critical plant systems and equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, chillers, water treatment systems, and balance-of-plant components.
• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure operational reliability.
• Supervise maintenance personnel and oversee the performance of third-party contractors to ensure high-quality work and adherence to standards.
• Champion a culture of safety by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and workplace safety requirements.
• Administer and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for effective planning, tracking, and reporting of maintenance activities.
• Manage spare parts and tooling inventories; ensure all tools and materials are properly maintained, secured, and replenished as needed.
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost control strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including inspections and environmental testing (e.g., boiler inspections, AQMD leak detection).
• Prepare detailed work scopes, maintenance job plans, and technical specifications; solicit and evaluate competitive bids for equipment and services.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date documentation, including equipment manuals, records, inspection reports, and maintenance histories.
• Participate in the recruitment, training, and performance management of maintenance team members to build a strong, skilled workforce.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and QA/QC teams to support plant reliability and performance objectives.
• Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) for maintenance planning, analysis, and reporting.
• Provide regular status updates, insights, and recommendations to the Plant Manager and Owner’s representatives regarding maintenance initiatives and performance.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Minimum 10 years of maintenance management experience in a power generation or industrial plant environment.
• At least 7 years of hands-on experience in power plant maintenance, including both gas and steam turbine systems.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a maintenance team.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, controls, and industrial network infrastructure.
• Proven experience with rotating equipment, industrial refrigeration systems, and predictive maintenance methodologies.
• Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, NFPA, and NEC.
• Experience with Aeroderivative Gas Turbines is considered a strong asset.
Working Conditions:
• Must be able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, respirators, arc flash suits, and chemical protection, as needed.
• Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and work safely in environments that may include hazardous materials.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
• On-call availability may be required.
• Valid state driver’s license is required.
