The successful candidate for the Plant Maintenance Lineman 1 position must show the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate is responsible for the construction of both aerial and buried coax, copper and fiber optic cables, according to company construction practices and procedures.

What You'll Be Doing:
Construction, maintenance, and transferring of aerial and underground HFC, FTTH, and telephone plant
Competent pole and ladder climbing skills
Works aloft utilizing climbing gaffs, ladders, and mechanical lifts
Operates company vehicles and equipment including bucket trucks, fork lifts, backhoes/trenchers, and other machines
Works outdoors in the elements
Reads network design prints
Accurately maintains daily log sheet and inventory paperwork
Knowledge regarding NEC construction guidelines and Armstrong construction practices
Follows all Armstrong safety policies
Maintains vehicles and machines to Armstrong standards
Other assigned tasks
What You’ll Need:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Must possess a positive attitude, a strong work-ethic, and a desire to learn
Physical capabilities including climbing, lifting, and carrying a minimum of 75 lbs.
Must maintain physical fitness to meet weight limit requirements for ladders and lifts and be able to meet the demands of a labor-intensive job
Must be able to take direction verbally and written and be able to work rapidly under time pressure
Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and ethical decisions
Available to work after business hours as required, i.e. storm damage
Regular, punctual, and consistent attendance
on a rotating basis.
