Job Description

Perform maintenance repair in the rendering plant and facility in a safe and efficient manner as directed by the supervisor. 1st shift 8 am to 4:30 pm

Compensation and Benefits

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Weld, cut, and drill steel and stainless steel
  • Must be familiar with safe work practices including but not limited to, lock out tag out, confined space entry, ladder and climbing safety, hot works, etc.
  • Must be able to work with electrical equipment e.g. breakers, fuses, heaters, switches, controls, etc…
  • Repair pipefitting and plumbing
  • Wire, repair and replace motors
  • Repair and replace gear drives
  • Repair, rebuild and replace pumps
  • Repair high pressure hydraulics, and steam systems
  • Perform general cleaning and painting
  • Lift, move, mount and rig heavy and awkward equipment
  • Repair, maintain and assist with operations of the Plant, Mill Room, Shipping and receiving, Waste Water Treatment area, etc…
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Boilers including blow down, startup and shutdown
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
  • Other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the business. These responsibilities may change from time to time are business needs evolve over time.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Professional Certifications, Education, Experience and Travel Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding experience
  • Must have experience in industrial machinery maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have the physical dexterity to climb, crawl and maneuver around confined and or tight spaces
  • Less than 5% travel requirement

Physical Demands/Requirements:

Constantly (over 2/3):

  • Operates and uses maintenance/mechanic tools including electrical hand tools
  • Ascends/descends equipment to perform maintenance on vehicles
  • Must be able to position self to maintain equipment or perform duties of repairing and maintaining vehicles and work equipment.
  • Must be able to move around industrial equipment in manufacturing facility and garage workshop
  • Must be able to detect and observe equipment in need of repair
  • Exposed to chemicals and fumes common in the use of commercial vehicles; must be able to properly protect self and others from exposure

Frequently (1/3-2/3):

  • Communicates with staff in the process or repairing equipment
  • Move and transport material, equipment and tools up to 70 lbs with and without specialized lifting, moving and rigging equipment
  • Moves across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces

Occasionally (under 1/3):

  • Exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Remains in a seated position while using multilimb coordination to operate vehicles.
