The Plant Engineer I plays a pivotal role in supporting the timely delivery of medicines by enhancing equipment reliability, process efficiency, and safety standards. The plant engineer in this position will collaborate closely with cross functional team members to implement increasingly complex technical solutions, manage projects, lead teams to address engineering issues in assigned areas and ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements. The engineer is responsible for providing technical support for equipment and process improvements, facilitating root cause analysis, and developing work plans for infrastructure needs. With a focus on continuous improvement, the role involves modifying standard methods, mentoring colleagues, and making decisions to resolve moderately complex problems. As experience grows, the engineer gains increasing independence, contributing to the completion of project milestones and driving operational excellence within a structured environment.
What You Will Achieve
In this role, you will:
Primary point of contact for engineering maintenance & utilities in assigned area.
Provide technical support for equipment/process improvement.
Ensure compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Manages own time to meet agreed targets; develops plans for short-term work activities on own projects (timelines, work plans, deliverables) within own Work Team.
May act as a technical resource and provide guidance within own work team.
Contributes to the completion of moderately complex projects.
Coordination with maintenance/calibration/utilities, other plant engineers, validation and automation colleagues in support of manufacturing operations.
Facilitate and participate in root cause analysis, troubleshooting and equipment evaluations.
Develop work plans, forecast needs for assigned area infrastructure within a Work Team.
Modify and improve standard methods and techniques when necessary.
May review work completed by other colleagues when acting in mentor role.
Makes decisions to resolve moderately complex problems in standard situations.
Explore and apply ingenuity to experimentation when applicable.
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
High school diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience or associate’s degree with 6+ years of experience or BA/BS with 2+ years of experience or MBA/MS with any years of relevant experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong technical knowledge of the principles and concepts of the discipline applicable to the role.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Time management skills and accountability for individual tasks and a portion of the work team’s deliverables.

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
Prior experience with pharmaceutical clean room projects and/or associated requirements. Including design, equipment selection, construction & startup.
Strong knowledge of Pfizer Enterprise systems. Ex: eQMS, EAMS, PDOCs.
Good knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Prior Experience working with various automation platforms – Ex: PLC, BMS, Delta V, etc. – for system monitoring and data analysis.
Prior experience redlining, creating, reviewing and/or approving drawings or technical documents in an engineering document management system.
Prior experience managing projects including identifying action items, assigning responsible persons and maintaining deadlines.
Good understanding of Process Safety Management elements, especially Change of Design and Quality Assurance/Mechanical Integrity.
Good understanding of all applicable building, mechanical and energy codes, i.e. ASHRAE, IPE, LEED, etc.
Good troubleshooting knowledge of electrical, mechanical or process issues and/or equipment failures analysis.
Good understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis (RCM), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Pareto analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), HAZOP analysis, Age Exploration Process (AE), Six Sigma (Process Excellence) and predictive technologies etc.
Working knowledge of pipe sizing / routing, developing riser diagrams, gas routing etc.
Proficiency in technical writing and document reviews
Proactive approach to promoting safety within the workplace
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent’s primarily work environment is varied with time allocated inside and outside all buildings of this complex and includes potential exposure to hazardous materials and energy sources requires the appropriate use of Personal Protection Equipment.
Work involves direct contact with utilities and process equipment including, but is not limited to, aseptic processing equipment, bioreactors, tangential flow equipment, centrifuge, chromatography columns, HEPA filters, high purity water systems including WFI, sanitary distribution, clean steam, process gases, and process control systems.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
This role is standard Monday through Friday work shift. Alternative work schedules may be required to support specific project-related activities. On call duties may also be required.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $82 700,00 to $137 900,00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 10,0% of the base salary.
