Job Description

Air Liquide Australia is a market leader Gases, Technologies and Services for Industry in Australia. Air Liquide Australia provides innovative, responsive and customer focused services to our product range, which improves the performance of our customers while helping protect the environment.

At Air Liquide, we believe your evolution is the engine of our innovation. We are seeking a highly motivated and technically astute Plant Engineer to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of our production facility in Kwinana, WA.

This is a full-time, permanent position (38 hours per week) where you will act as a key site leader—translating complex operational standards into a seamless, high-performance safety culture while securing reliable supply for our critical customers.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

In this role, you will bridge the gap between engineering theory and hands-on site leadership. Your mission is built on four core strategic pillars:

  • Operational Integrity & Reliability:Manage the local site team and partner closely with stakeholders to maintain a continuous, highly reliable supply of quality-assured gases. You will coordinate daily routine maintenance and breakdown repairs with technical staff to meet production targets.

  • Process Optimization & Innovation:Collaborate with Facility Managers, Support Managers, and other relevant stakeholders to design and implement plant efficiency programs. You will develop operational standards and KPIs to track plant performance, actively seeking and implementing new strategies to reduce operational costs.

  • HSEQ Compliance & Stakeholder Relations:Champion our "zero harm" culture by ensuring all safety procedures are rigorously applied by local teams. You will manage documentation control, lead site audits, and serve as the primary on-site focal point for customers, regulatory bodies, and unions.

  • Reporting & Corporate Governance:Drive the reporting framework for our Large Industries activities, delivering precise data regarding site reliability, availability, and overall process efficiency to support board reports and strategic decision-making.

Are you a MATCH?

We are looking for an analytical, solution-focused engineer who can work autonomously and handle competing operational demands. You will bring:

  • Educational Foundation:A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Industry Experience:Proven professional experience within the industrial gas industry, or similar heavy chemical/process manufacturing environments, with direct exposure to plant operations, distribution networks, or filling center

  • Regulatory & Technical Literacy:Deep understanding of work health and safety standards, dangerous goods/substances handling, and applicable regulatory frameworks.

  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Exceptional ability to interpret extensive and varied technical instructions, complex safety rules, operating manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Leadership & Drive:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to managing on-site teams, coordinating contractors, and driving issues to completion.

The Air Liquide Edge: What We Offer

We provide a high-performance, supportive environment designed to help you build a lifelong professional path:

  • Support & Security:Base salary of $80,000 - $87,000 per annum + Performance Bonus and Salary Continuance Insurance.

  • Career Stability:A stable, permanent full-time role (38 hours per week) based at our Kwinana, WA facility.

  • Wellbeing & Perks:Access to dedicated health and wellness initiatives, and our exclusive retail discount program featuring offers with over 350 major retailers.

  • Global Opportunities:Access to extensive technical training, structured mentorship, and long-term career progression paths nationally and internationally across the global Air Liquide Group.

Your next professional milestone starts here. Because when you grow, we grow!
