Plant Cost Controller

With advanced manufacturing facilities and a strong commitment to operational excellence, the company is seeking a highly analytical Plant Cost Controller to strengthen its finance team.
The Plant Cost Controller will be responsible for managing plant controlling activities, manufacturing cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, inventory control, and operational financial performance. This role will partner closely with Plant Management, Operations, Supply Chain, Production, Engineering, and Finance to improve profitability, optimize manufacturing costs, and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
Prepare monthly plant financial reports, variance analysis, and management reports.
Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-term financial planning for manufacturing operations.
Analyze plant financial performance and recommend corrective actions to improve profitability.
Monitor plant KPIs and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
Manufacturing Cost Control
Analyze manufacturing costs including direct materials, labor, overhead, logistics, and production efficiency.
Monitor standard costs, actual costs, and manufacturing variances.
Review production cost drivers and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Support standard cost updates and annual cost roll processes.
Ensure accurate cost allocation across production departments.
Inventory & Cost Management
Monitor inventory valuation and inventory accuracy.
Analyze inventory movements, slow-moving inventory, and obsolete stock.
Coordinate with Supply Chain and Production to improve inventory turnover.
Support monthly inventory reconciliation and annual physical stock counts.
Operational Business Partnering
Partner with Plant Manager and department heads on operational and financial performance.
Support productivity improvement, cost-saving initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
Evaluate CAPEX proposals, investment projects, and return-on-investment (ROI).
Provide financial analysis for manufacturing projects and operational initiatives.
Financial Controls & Compliance
Ensure compliance with company financial policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
Support internal and external audits.
Ensure accuracy of manufacturing financial data and reporting.
Improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
Support compliance with SOX/internal control requirements where applicable.
Reporting
Prepare monthly plant controlling packages.
Analyze production efficiency, manufacturing variances, and profitability.
Present financial performance to local management and regional finance teams.
Prepare ad hoc financial analysis requested by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
CPA, CMA, or MBA is an advantage.
Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Plant Controlling, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Financial Planning & Analysis.
Experience in multinational manufacturing companies is highly preferred.
Automotive, industrial manufacturing, or precision engineering industry experience is highly desirable.
