We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

As a PWR-CONNECT Plant Controller, you will report directly to the Finance Director PWR Grid&Connect NAM. This position will be dedicated to the Trenton plants as we face some new challenges and targets to reach business growth in Canada. This role will also require the presence of the Plant controller in Trenton to provide support on an as-needed basis.

GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION

One of the strategic orientations that Nexans pursues consists in capturing growth and differentiating its offer by escalading the value chain from the production of cables towards the provision of innovative cable systems and services and solutions to better address the current and future needs of our partners and customers.

The Plant Controller will provide accurate and timely reporting on results and KPIs for our Trenton plants. It will ensure that costing, inventory valuation and control of flows are accurate. The position is the local finance referent at the plant.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Financial Reporting and Compliance

  • Contribute to prepare financial statements, monthly reports, and analyze accounts to close month end accurately and provide relevant information to plant, business unit and corporate management.
  • Review and reconcile all supporting documentation provided to ensure the accuracy of the financial information and identify and necessary adjustments or unresolved issues.
  • Is in charge of the preparation of recurring or specific “on-demand” reports to support financial and operational performance analysis.
  • Participate in internal and external financial audits to comply with mandatory guidelines, as well as government filing requirements.

Planning, Forecasting, and Risk Management

  • Participate in the preparation of the division forecasts and budgets.
  • Participate in FX and non-ferrous risk management, including analysis of financial impact of hedging (metals and currency).

Process Improvement and Operational Support

  • Improve financial reporting, month end reporting, production reporting, standard costing, inventory control and scrap reporting. Improve accuracy and timeliness of all reporting processes.
  • Promote changes in processes to improve efficiency of the Finance team and the Business Unit

Expected Results:

  • Provide a monthly reporting to the Group in accordance with Group and IFRS rules
  • Develop and maintain the level of competence in the controlling department
  • Ensure reliability in data information system and support other functions in the process flow to be compliant with international and local accounting rules

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?

KEY COMPETENCIES & REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in business, finance/accounting
  • At least 5 years of experience as SAP key user
  • CO expertise in Cost and Revenue Element Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Activity Based Costing, Internal Orders, Profit center Accounting, Variance calculation, cost estimation and settlement, COPC and COPA
  • Very good understanding of controlling or accounting processes
  • Ability to lead process and systems improvements
  • Independent, organized and problem solving mindset
  • Proactive, eager to learn and adaptable to change
  • Good communication and facilitation skills

ASSET

  • Certification in SAP-FICO
  • Professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
