Plant Breeder Intern
PHENOTYPIC & GENOTYPIC CHARACTERIZATION OF NOVEL GERMPLASM WITH SELECTIVE PHENOTYPING
YOUR TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a plant biologist or plant breeder intern, you will help devise and test strategies to construct high-quality phenotypic and genotypic sets for our innovation pipelines. Furthermore, the intern will collect data and conduct statistical analyses to help improve germplasm and advance product concept to the next project phase of the innovation pipelines in vegetable crops.
Activities can include, but are not limited to:
• Work closely with breeding, innovation and nursery/operation teams to explore methodologies to design and select phenotyping populations using simulated and empirical data analyses.
• Contribute to validation of the product concept in our innovation pipelines.
• Collect data on selected germplasm and take ownership all the way throughout the growing season
• Collaborate closely with the breeding team, innovation team and other stakeholders, to enable data driven characterization of novel germplasm.
• Communicate your results to stakeholders.
WHO YOU ARE
• You are a MSc or PhD student in plant breeding, plant biology, quantitative genetics, biostatistics, data science or related fields.
• Have a desire to attain applied research experience in an environment with a highly motivated and professional team.
• You are available for a period of 6 months starting from March 2026 onwards, though we are flexible on start dates.
• You are interested or have knowledge of operation research, glasshouse research and agricultural setting.
• You have knowledge and hands-on experience with data collection, data handling, and basic statistical analysis.
• You have knowledge or desire to learn about the application of plant (molecular) breeding program.
• Strong communication and critical thinking skills are required.
• Fluent both in writing and speaking of English language.
• You are self-motivated, innovative, independent, a networker, agile, creative, and result orientated.
