Job Description

To perform all duties within the scope of all electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems in the hotel, as assigned by his superior in accordance with the departmental standards. Works closely with the Shift Duty Engineer to carry out the actual operation of the hotel electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment during his duty shift in order to achieve the maximum standard in delivering various engineering services required by the hotel operations.

Properly monitors and records all necessary data of the Engineering equipment for operation and maintenance purposes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensures the day-to-day operational efficiency of the section.
  2. Inspects, cleans and maintains all electrical switchgears and distribution networks and systems.
  3. In charge of the operation of mechanical, plumbing and electrical facilities of the hotel.
  4. Inspects, cleans, maintains and repairs, if necessary, all firefighting and safety equipment.
  5. Coordinates closely with the electrical and electronic section regarding the operation and maintenance purposes.
  6. Monitors the operations of all mechanical equipment to ensure that all are in proper working order. This includes routine checks in the areas of the building where mechanical equipment are located, such as the Plant Room, LPG Tank Room, Generator Room, AHU Room, Pool Pump Room, Elevator Machine Room, Ballroom, Function rooms, Lobby, and kitchen areas.
  7. Ensures readiness of firefighting and safety equipment at all times and provides guidance to other departments.
  8. Carries out immediate repair of equipment, including standby, and ensures readiness when needed.
  9. Ensures immediate provision of services to guests and other operating departments.
  10. Attends immediately to and ensures the completion of emergency repairs.
  11. Initiates attendance to emergency calls immediately, in all phases of engineering works.
  12. Coordinates and cooperates with other engineering staff where necessary.
  13. Strictly observes energy conservation procedures at all times.
  14. Observes meticulously the "No Smoking" policy and all regulations regarding "Safety at Work", at all times.
  15. Keep updates of daily events, especially Banquets and Guestroom status, giving emphasis to VIP's.
  16. Ensures coordination with other operating departments in the implementation of repair and maintenance schedules.
  17. Performs daily rounds of inspection in the entire building, giving particular attention to defective or deficient life safety features, and observe closely the condition of all operating facilities and equipment.
  18. Ensures that all standby units are readily available for operation.
  19. Reports immediately to his superior all defects and deficiencies noticed during inspection and, without delay, commence the immediate rectification.
  20. Records all mechanical operation parameters in the plant logbook.
  21. Controls effective daily consumption and materials utilization.
  22. Reports the completion of all projects and work assignments.
  23. Keeps himself updated on all projects or activity status within the department.
  24. Familiarizes with all rules and regulations regarding safety at work and observes these meticulously at all times.
  25. Maintains logbook of activities with accurate time and details.
  26. Assists the Shift Duty Engineer and Maintenance Engineer in periodic maintenance check-ups and repairs.
  27. Ensures neatness in appearance, proper personal hygiene, wearing of complete prescribed uniform and polished black shoes in the workplace at all times.
  28. Observes punctuality in the workplace.
  29. Emphasizes good personal behavior as per guidelines laid down in the Employee Handbook and promotes teamwork always.
  30. Follows strictly all policies and procedures of the hotel and the Engineering Department.
  31. Attends Engineering meetings and other hotel requirements regularly.
  32. Acts as member of a fire fighting team in case of fire or other emergencies.
  33. Keeps a close watch on spare parts/supplies required and advises the Shift Duty Engineer beforehand to reorder, in order to have at any time the expected replacement parts/supplies at hand.
  34. Observes all safety measures and work procedures in all works assigned to him.
  35. Ensures that all assigned works are completed according to schedule and priority.
  36. Ensures proper utilization of equipment and provides guidance to other departments.
  37. Responds and makes himself available for any call by his superiors during emergencies, troubles, or calamities. Stays in the hotel as a standby force to aid in emergencies.
  38. Follows all other instructions, rules and regulations that may be issued.
  39. Performs any other work and related functions, as may be assigned by his superior, to accomplish a smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel.
