The Planning Supervisor acts as a key leader within the Nuclear Services Project Management Office (PMO). This position is responsible for the professional growth and day-to-day oversight of a team of up to 8 Schedulers/Planners. The Supervisor will drive the vision for enterprise-level scheduling, mentoring the team to shift toward a standardized approach to capacity planning and progress monitoring. Using a "no surprises" methodology, this role ensures the seamless integration of engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and delivery schedules to support critical nuclear outage timelines.
Key Responsibilities
• People Leadership: Provide direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring to a team of up to 8 Schedulers/Planners. Foster a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, professional development, and technical excellence.
• Enterprise Scheduling Strategy: Lead the transition to an enterprise-wide scheduling approach, standardizing P6 usage, reporting templates, and capacity planning processes across the group.
• Portfolio Oversight: Manage and monitor critical date shifts across a large backlog of complex components (e.g., steam turbine and generator rotors) to ensure timely outage execution.
• PMO Integration: Partner with leadership to act as a strategic advisor, providing proactive risk identification and highlighting constraints before they impact the critical path.
• Performance Reporting: Oversee the integrity of schedule data, including the use of Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and progress curves to provide actionable insights for stakeholders.
Core Technical & Operational Requirements
• Advanced P6 Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Oracle Primavera (P6), with a proven ability to manage, resource-load, and maintain complex schedules ranging from
200 to 500+ activities.
• Nuclear Lifecycle Expertise: Demonstrated success managing schedules throughout both the Inquiry to Order (ITO) and Order to Remittance (OTR) phases within the nuclear or heavy industrial sectors.
• Backlog & Capacity Planning: Proven ability to manage large-scale backlogs and provide strategic input on capacity planning to optimize resource allocation and delivery timelines.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to translate complex project data into clear, executive-level reports, using EVA and progress metrics to maintain project health.
• Cross-Functional Facilitation: Experience facilitating communication between engineering, procurement, and manufacturing departments to ensure synchronization across global/complex supply chains.
• Regulatory Familiarity: Understanding of high-stakes, regulated environments (e.g., FERC permitting or nuclear safety requirements) and their impact on project scheduling.
Qualifications
• Education: Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Experience: Significant experience in project planning and control roles. Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity is required.
• Training: Demonstrated commitment to leadership development (e.g., Influential Leadership and Innovation or similar management training).
• Tools: Mastery of Primavera (P6) is required; proficiency in Microsoft Project and the MS Office Suite is essential.
