About the role
Are you passionate about building a more resilient future for NSW? As a Planning and Strategy Project Officer, you will play a vital role in helping communities mitigate and adapt to disaster risks through supporting the development of the next State Disaster Mitigation Plan. This position is ideal for a strategic thinker who excels at turning complex information into actionable policy and managing projects that deliver real-world impact.
Lead the design of key initiatives that align with government commitments and agency disaster-risk objectives.
Dive into emerging trends and information to develop robust guidelines, policies, and evidence-based strategies.
Oversee project lifecycles, from coordinating resources and maintaining documentation to ensuring outcomes are met on time, on budget, and within scope.
Act as a central point of contact, facilitating working groups and committees to ensure seamless communication and collaborative policy development.
Prepare high-level briefs, status reports, and discussion papers to inform executive decision-making and track progress against milestones.
About You
We are looking for a proactive professional with a knack for analytical problem-solving and program coordination. You should be comfortable navigating complex frameworks and possess the communication skills needed to engage diverse stakeholders across the NSW government, councils and local communities.
You’ll need demonstrated experience in undertaking research and analysis to support policy development, strategy and guidelines.
Essential Requirements
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Must be a current NSW Public Sector Employee

The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.
