Job Description

About BMD

BMD is Australia’s leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business, with foundations built on the family values that underpin our unique, collaborative approach. Driven by a purpose of powering futures and creating enduring legacies through a commitment to collaboration, BMD is delivering infrastructure solutions that connect and transform communities. With a proud history beginning in 1979, BMD now employs 2,400 people throughout Australia, the Philippines and United Kingdom.

About the Role

Lead integrated planning and project control functions across the tender and, subject to award, delivery phases of a major infrastructure program. You will turn the program into a practical management tool, connecting design, procurement, construction, commissioning, cost, risk and progress reporting. BMD is building a project leadership team for a major Tier 1 infrastructure opportunity in South Australia. The role will support a complex, multidisciplinary program with significant civil, structural and marine interfaces.

Your role will include:

  • Lead the development and management of the integrated master program, baselines, staging plans and key milestones.
  • Work with design, procurement, commercial and construction teams to establish logic, sequencing and realistic delivery assumptions.
  • Monitor critical path, progress, productivity, schedule risk and emerging delay, and provide clear recovery options.
  • Establish project-controls reporting, including progress measurement, look-ahead planning, dashboards and performance trends.
  • Support tender methodology, program narratives, risk reviews and handover from tender into delivery.
  • Lead planning and controls reviews with senior project stakeholders and improve planning capability across the team.
  • Manage a team of planners and project controls specialists.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Planning Manager on major Australian infrastructure projects, leading program development, controls, forecasting and performance reporting.
  • Strong Primavera P6 capability and practical knowledge of baseline development, critical path analysis and progress measurement.
  • Experience integrating civil, structural, building and MEP or similarly complex multidisciplinary work packages.
  • A background with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor, joint venture or comparable major-project delivery organisation.
  • Strong communication skills and the credibility to test assumptions with engineering and construction leaders.
  • Experience of operating at a senior management level within business or project environments, including the preparation, presentation and communication of reports to Senior Executives.
  • Willingness to relocate to Adelaide.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience across design and construct, ECI, alliance or other collaborative delivery environments.
  • Exposure to schedule risk analysis, Earned Value Management, cost controls or digital project-controls reporting.
  • Relevant qualification in engineering, construction management, project management or a related discipline.
