About the Role

We have two exciting opportunities for Planning Officers to join Nottingham City Council's Development Management Service.

Nottingham is one of the UK's youngest, fastest-changing and most ambitious cities, with a diverse mix of regeneration projects, city centre development, heritage assets, major infrastructure investment, residential growth and neighbourhood improvements. As a Planning Officer, you will play a direct role in shaping the future of the city by assessing planning applications and helping to deliver sustainable development that benefits Nottingham's residents, businesses and communities. Based on the attached job description, the role includes assessing planning applications, providing pre-application advice, undertaking site visits, preparing reports and engaging with applicants, agents, councillors and local communities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• An undergraduate degree in Town Planning or a related discipline together with a postgraduate qualification in planning or a related subject.
• Experience of assessing planning applications or working within a development management environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain planning matters clearly to a range of audiences.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess planning proposals, interpret technical information and make well-reasoned recommendations.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines whilst maintaining high standards of customer service.
