We’re on the lookout for an experienced Planning Manager to join our Merchandise team on a 12 month contract and play a key role in driving the commercial performance of Platypus.
Reporting to the Head of Merchandise, you’ll lead the Planning function and team, owning forecasting, inventory strategy and financial planning to maximise sales opportunities and deliver profitable outcomes.
Partnering closely with Buying, Retail, Marketing, E-commerce, Supply Chain and our brand partners, you’ll provide the insights and direction needed to optimise inventory, identify opportunities and support the continued growth of the business.
What you’ll be doing:
• Lead, coach and develop the Planning team to drive performance and growth
• Own forecasting, budgeting and financial planning across key commercial metrics including Sales, GP, Intake, Stockturn and GMROI
• Manage OTB and inventory strategies to maximise sales and minimise risk
• Provide trade insights, reporting and recommendations to influence business decisions
• Trade Meeting - Provide commentary and insights into the week that was, as well as any risks/opportunities to the forward plan.
• Lead forecast reviews, post-season analysis and identify opportunities for future growth
• Manage promotional and markdown strategies to deliver strong inventory outcomes
• Build strong relationships across internal teams, suppliers and brand partners
What we’re looking for:
• 5 years’ experience in merchandise planning or planning leadership within retail
• Strong commercial mindset with proven experience managing forecasts and inventory
• Confident using data and insights to drive decisions
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
• A natural leader who enjoys developing and supporting a team
• Highly organised, proactive and results driven
• Passionate about retail, customers and delivering great outcomes
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and AP21
