Position Summary
The Planning Manager – CW LNG Americas Scope leads and coordinates all planning and scheduling activities for the project scope executed by the Americas organization, with a strong focus on construction readiness, site execution, and the integration of engineering and procurement deliverables with construction priorities.
The role is the primary planning interface between the Houston-based team, the Paris project team, the CW LNG construction site, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders. The Planning Manager ensures that schedules, progress data, forecasts, and recovery actions are aligned across execution centers and accurately reflect the project execution strategy.
This position provides leadership to the project planning team, establishes reliable schedule governance, and delivers timely analysis and early warning to project management to protect key milestones and support successful construction execution.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Responsibilities
- Lead planning and scheduling activities for the complete CW LNG Americas Scope of Work, covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, logistics, construction, pre-commissioning, and interfaces with the Paris scope.
- Own the integrated schedule for the Americas scope and ensure alignment with the overall CW LNG project schedule, contractual milestones, execution strategy, and construction sequence.
- Act as the principal planning interface with the Paris planning team, establishing a disciplined coordination rhythm for schedule integration, progress cut-offs, interface milestones, assumptions, constraints, and forecast alignment.
- Develop, maintain, and control the Construction Level 3 schedule, including area, system, discipline, subcontract, work-package, testing, turnover, and commissioning interfaces.
- Integrate engineering deliverables, procurement status, vendor information, material availability, fabrication, logistics, and site priorities to provide a realistic view of construction readiness and available workfronts.
- Coordinate with construction management, field engineering, completions, procurement, subcontract administration, and project controls to validate progress, remaining durations, sequencing, and forecast completion dates.
- Establish and manage subcontractor schedule requirements, including baseline review, periodic updates, look-ahead schedules, manpower plans, productivity trends, and recovery schedules.
- Ensure actual progress from the construction management system is reconciled with subcontractor forecasts and incorporated into Primavera P6 through a controlled monthly update process.
- Analyze critical and near-critical paths, float trends, milestone slippage, interfaces, constraints, productivity, and schedule exposure; provide clear early warnings and recommendations to project management.
- Lead schedule risk reviews, mitigation planning, scenario analysis, and recovery-plan development when performance deviates from the approved baseline or current forecast.
- Prepare schedule dashboards, progress curves, milestone reports, look-ahead views, manpower forecasts, and executive schedule narratives for internal management and client reporting.
- Maintain schedule change control and provide schedule analysis supporting change management, extension-of-time assessments, and claims preparation when required.
- Ensure planning procedures, coding structures, calendars, progress measurement rules, and reporting methods are consistently applied across Houston, Paris, site, and subcontractor schedules.
Leadership / Management Responsibilities
- Lead, organize, and supervise the planning team supporting the CW LNG Americas scope and construction activities.
- Define roles, priorities, deliverables, and coordination responsibilities across Houston, Paris, and site planning resources.
- Promote a single integrated planning approach and ensure that schedule decisions are supported by verified field and execution data.
- Facilitate schedule workshops with project management, construction, engineering, procurement, completions, subcontractors, and the Paris team.
- Coach planners and schedulers, review the quality of planning deliverables, and ensure timely issue of accurate schedule information.
- Escalate material schedule risks, unresolved interfaces, and forecast deterioration with clear impact assessments and recommended actions.
- Build productive working relationships within a multicultural and geographically distributed project organization.
Compliance / Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with project planning procedures, company standards, contractual schedule requirements, and approved progress measurement rules.
- Maintain schedule data quality through logic, constraint, calendar, coding, progress, critical-path, and forecast-quality reviews.
- Ensure schedule updates are traceable, supported by approved progress figures and documented forecast assumptions.
- Coordinate the monthly schedule update cycle and associated management review, analysis, narrative, and issue process.
- Support project governance, internal reviews, client reviews, schedule audits, and lessons-learned activities.
- Maintain clear records of schedule baselines, revisions, changes, assumptions, mitigations, and management decisions.
