Duties and Responsibilities

As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will play a significant role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting a variety of research and statistical data to improve processes. Your responsibilities include performing data mining using business intelligence techniques, assessing data quality, and applying advanced statistical tools such as cluster analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and relationships that may otherwise go undetected. This position will develop plans for identified process improvements and assist the supervisor with implementation. This position will perform statistical forecasting while also developing and coordinating comprehensive department-wide research programs and statistical studies. Additionally, this position is responsible for demonstrating initiative by identifying the unit’s needs related to business processes, data quality, data improvements, and software requirements, while designing and maintaining systems (analytical and computer-based) for the processing and analysis of statistical data.

  • Attention to Detail – must be thorough and conscientious in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small, ensuring that work is done accurately according to procedures and standards.
  • Organization and Prioritization – must be able to plan and organize time, resources, and workload effectively in order to complete assignments in a timely manner and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Information Comprehension and Interpretation – must be able to understand, interpret and logically apply a variety of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to statistical research and analysis. This includes driver history records, investigation reports, FLHSMV policies and procedures, administrative rules, and Florida statutes.
  • Reasoning, Critical Thinking, and Judgment – must be able to weigh and evaluate a variety of data and statistical information and consider numerous factors while making sound, well-informed, and objective decisions based on case information, testimony, evidence, and established laws and regulations.
  • Discretion and Integrity – must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion, maintain the confidentiality of information, and uphold the integrity of the administrative review process.
  • Technology Application – must be able to proficiently operate a computer and associated systems/applications such as Microsoft Office applications, Tableau, SQL programming language and possess the aptitude to learn new software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience collecting, summarizing, and analyzing data using statistical methodologies.
  • Experience preparing statistical data reports using charts, graphs, diagrams, etc.
  • Experience in coordinating projects.
  • Experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) or other programming language used in retrieving and managing data.

Job Related Requirements

  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes. Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
  • The position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. A driver’s license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.
  • Day and overnight travel are required for up to 7 or more consecutive days at a time.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.

  • The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six-month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.
