Duties and Responsibilities

This position serves as a team lead for the unit responsible for managing division procedures, policies and forms which include researching and gathering information, preparing organizational communication, and performing impact analysis of new policies and procedures. This position also responds to requests from external and internal stakeholders by researching current laws and/or department policies and is responsible for clear and timely and efficient communication ensuring that technical and business needs are met. This position will also provide guidance and work with unit members and different program areas throughout the division in a collaborative effort to facilitate problem solving and decision making to meet objectives set forth by leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION) and Driver License Issuance (DLI) system.
  • Knowledge of the Florida Real-Time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS)
  • Knowledge of the Motorist Maintenance system.
  • Skill in using the Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Skill using Adobe Acrobat programs.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and resolve customer inquiries.
  • Ability to engage people at various organizational levels for the purpose of planning, problem solving, or issue resolution.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, Florida Statutes, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in an organized and precise manner.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze information to develop, revise and make recommendations for process improvement.
  • Ability to write and proofread on a professional/business level.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate information and make timely decisions.
  • Ability to effectively manage daily workload.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Using the Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS) and the Orion System.
  • Reading, applying and interpreting rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.
  • Preparing written communication, to include written policies, procedures, reports, memos, and/or correspondence.
  • Conducting research for business process updates and process improvement, including process mapping and impact analysis.
  • Meeting and engaging with program areas for planning, problem solving, issue resolution to create and document technical instruction and procedural updates.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
