THE ROLE:

In this role, reporting to the Team Lead of Business Planning & Performance Improvement (BPPI), you will play a critical role in assisting with Petronas’s annual budget and forecasting activities, tracking company performance, and conducting economic analyses to guide short-term strategy. We are seeking a dedicated individual who possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, is self-motivated and has robust financial modeling and analytical skills.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

  • Assist in coordinating corporate strategic planning and budget development; providing planning and support to functional areas, tracking business planning assumptions, gathering and verifying financial and operational planning information, identifying anomalies, and liaising with functional area representatives to resolve discrepancies
  • Align internal budget processes with parent company’s budget timelines and systems; seek opportunities to integrate data, timelines and systems wherever possible
  • Monitor and report on company performance, including tracking against company scorecard and preparing quarterly performance reports for parent company, along with other ad hoc reporting
  • Conduct budget and forecast analysis; interpret financial and budget data, re-forecasts and models as well as communicate any variances identified
  • Collaborate with various business units, including Development, Marketing, Joint Venture, Production, Finance and teams in Headquarters to support their overall planning activities
  • Act as a super-user for PETRONAS Canada’s short-term planning tool, providing guidance, support and training to other users
  • Lead business planning related projects, which includes determining project specifications, deliverables and milestones, managing timelines, activities and outcomes, and presenting progress reports
  • Develop specialized presentations for internal and external use

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in budgeting and planning
  • A designation such as CFA, CPA, or MBA would be considered an asset
  • Experience within the unconventional sector of the oil and gas industry is required
  • Experience with Enersight, ValNav, or similar short-term and long-term planning tools will be considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional groups
  • Acute attention to detail with a high accuracy rate
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
