Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Reviews comprehensive plan amendments for consistency with Chapter 163, Part Il, Florida Statutes and prepares Objections, Recommendations and Comments Reports and recommendations for findings of compliance.
  • Reviews land development regulations and prepares reports in accordance with Chapter 380.05, Florida Statutes, the Principles for Guiding Development and relevant Florida Administrative Codes.
  • Research scientific studies, management plans, statutes, administrative codes and federal rules and provides recommendations regarding applicability to relevant program activity.
  • Reviews environmental resource permits, requests to dredge and fill, dock siting plans, revetments and other development proposals under the Coastal Zone Management Program and prepares recommendations for agency action.
  • Reviews development orders, permits and other development approvals for consistency with the adopted comprehensive pian, land development regulations, Principles for Guiding Development, Florida Administrative Codes, and develops recommendations for agency action.

  • Participates in interagency meetings and coordinates with local and state agencies, citizens and neighborhood groups. 7. Coordinates and participates in the preparation and evaluation of the annual Florida Keys Work Program Report to the Governor and Cabinet.
  • Prepares reports and briefings and attends meetings with Cabinet Aides and other state agency staff. 8. Participates in the response for information and documents from the Governor's Office staff. Reviews relevant legislation and prepares recommendations.
  • Provides technical assistance to local governments in interpreting and accomplishing Florida Keys Work Program tasks by coordinating meetings with planning and legal staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, Chapter 380.05, Florida Statutes, Areas of Critical State Concern and Growth Management Administrative Codes.
  • Skills in utilizing Geographic Information Systems and property appraiser records, and in interpretation of building and site plans.
  • Ability to express scientific and legal concepts in plain language and make concise presentations.
  • Ability to interpret rules, codes, statutes and comprehensive plan policies.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to use standard office and email software on computer. Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statutes)

PAY: $50,000.00 -$53,000.00
