The Collier Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking a detail oriented team member to perform intermediate professional work collecting, organizing and evaluating planning data. Employees in this classification assist boards and commissions; coordinate divisional plan reviews; maintain records; and prepare reports.

Examples of duties

  • Provides MPO Board and Advisory Committee support including developing agenda items, preparing agenda packets, leading meetings and presenting items. Coordinates meeting logistics and maintains documentation and records.
  • Supports core MPO transportation planning programs through the Continuing, Cooperative, and Comprehensive (3 Cs) transportation planning process including assisting in the development and implementation of the LRTP, TIP, and UPWP.
  • Provides technical analysis and data reporting by managing, interpreting, and reporting transportation data, multimodal conditions, congestion management performance, safety and freight data, assisting in the creation of maps, datasets, GIS, and other MPO tools.
  • Leads compliance, documentation, and grant management activities as required by funding partners and the Grants Office including documenting, tracking, and maintaining records to ensure accuracy in preparation for audits, certification reviews and FDOT, FHWA and County oversight.
  • Provides support to various sections within the Department regarding verbal clarification and/or interpretations and research; conducts and develops research relevant to planning through the use of the Internet, libraries, professional organizations, experts, surveys, field interviews, committees, public meetings, etc.
  • Provides the public with information related to the status of projects; assists the public; answers questions from the public.
  • Conducts and participates in meetings and training; coordinates various committees.
  • Performs record keeping; maintains files; composes memos and letters.
  • Compiles and develops collected data into reports concerning planning issues; research planning and development practices; prepares documents, studies, and analyses.
  • Meets with residents to discuss their planning needs and concerns.
  • Provides technical and advisory services to County officials and other County staff as required.
  • Prepares scope of work for consultant services to develop comprehensive long-range planning studies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Candidates without a degree should possess four (4) additional years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

  • Required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

  • Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County’s Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
