About Copper SA Operations at BHP

BHP is a global resources company operating across more than 90 locations worldwide, with a purpose to improve lives and support a more sustainable future. Through Copper South Australia (Copper SA), we are building a leading copper portfolio that supports the global energy transition, supplying materials essential for renewable energy, electric vehicles and digital infrastructure. For you, this is an exciting opportunity to grow your career, make a meaningful impact, and help shape the future of one of Australia's leading copper businesses.

We currently have a vacancy for an Asset Management Planner, reporting to the Integrated Operations team.

The Challenge Ahead

As an Asset Management Planner, you will play an important role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of fixed plant equipment across our Copper SA operations. Working closely with maintenance execution teams, you will develop, maintain, and optimise maintenance work plans that enable frontline crews to deliver work safely and effectively.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team where your expertise in maintenance planning, work management, and continuous improvement will directly contribute to operational performance. You will use innovative tools, systems, and technology to improve planning processes, embed standardised work practices, and help deliver greater equipment reliability and asset performance.

If you enjoy solving problems, working across multiple stakeholders, and creating practical solutions that improve maintenance outcomes, this role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

You are an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys working in a dynamic operational environment and collaborating with diverse teams to achieve shared outcomes.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning or maintenance execution within a major hazard or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of maintenance equipment, asset health principles, or condition monitoring practices.
  • Well-developed understanding of planning, scheduling, and work management processes.
  • Knowledge of cost management and forecasting practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
  • Experience using SAP or a similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

A trade qualification or engineering degree will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate maintenance work plans in alignment with the 1SAP Work Management process.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance work, ensuring components, materials, and resources are identified and available before execution.
  • Deliver high-quality, optimised maintenance plans for fixed plant equipment to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Monitor, control, and continuously improve weekly work management processes.
  • Coordinate specialist and external resources required to complete complex maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with Supply teams to ensure materials and rotatable assets are available when required.
  • Improve SAP master data and support the implementation of standard work packages and task lists.
  • Provide technical and systems support to maintenance teams while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the automation and standardisation of planning processes across operations.
  • Monitor asset health information and work closely with reliability and strategy teams to optimise maintenance activities and improve asset performance.

Work Location

This role is based in Adelaide, South Australia, working a Monday to Friday roster with a hybrid work arrangement. Occasional travel to other Copper SA operational sites may be required.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At BHP, you’ll do meaningful work in an environment that supports you to perform at your best; on site and at home. That’s why our benefits are designed to support your health, your growth, and your personal balance:

  • Grow your career your way, with opportunities to develop and move across BHP
  • Be rewarded with competitive pay, performance bonuses and our BHP employee share plan
  • Work in an inclusive team where people support each other every day
  • Enjoy flexibility and family-friendly options that help you balance work and life
  • Access wellbeing support, including 24/7 confidential assistance for you and your family

And so much more!

Applications close 5pm Thursday 24th September 2026.
