Planner Analyst (Mechanical)- Power Generation
The Plant Work Management team is hiring a Mechanical Planner Analyst to join our team. This opportunity will allow you to utilize your maintenance experience coupled with your aptitude for routine and outage planning, scheduling, and coordinating repair activities associated with the electric-generating assets of our organization. You will be responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and analyzing maintenance activities for various equipment and craft personnel. Your maintenance knowledge and analytical skills will be instrumental in maintaining the operational readiness condition of critical assets.
Your thoughtful planning and dedication to excellence will ensure our electric generation system is constructed and maintained efficiently with the proper amount of analysis and schedule/planning rigor. This will enable Colorado Springs Utilities to provide the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electricity to our customer-owners. You will also implement and develop work management best practices for maintenance planning at Utilities’ plant environments.
This position will be centralized at the Front Range Power Plant location, primarily supporting Front Range Mechanics. There may be opportunities to support and learn all energy supply plants and remote sites within the Plant Work Management Group as business needs dictate.
How will you enjoy spending your time:
- Review, prepare, plan, schedule, and analyze routine and outage work orders
- Develop craft-specific job plans, material ordering, working in MAXIMO to allocate workload, and scheduling maintenance personnel at all Power Plants
- Develop weekly, and daily maintenance schedules for repair, PMs, and new installations of equipment involving Front Range Power Plant
- Responsible for overseeing Work Management Best Practices Implementation for Electric Generation assets
- Create project work breakdown structure and collaborate with stakeholders to monitor, analyze, and report on projects in all phases of Work Management
- Create, maintain, and track service records associated with asset management, asset creation, LID, and PMs & JPs in Maximo
- Provide technical direction to a small group of professional, craft, and/or support personnel and act as mentor and trainer to planner analysts
- Attend meetings and participate in presentations to the management team concerning Outage Planning, Asset Integration, and Maintenance Planning Strategies
- Assist in developing Integrated Asset Management Strategies and implementation processes and standards for all ESD facilities, personnel, assets, and infrastructure
- Review, prepare, plan, schedule, and analyze routine and outage work orders
What we are looking for: At the Planner Analyst classification, candidates typically offer progressive experience in planning, scheduling, and analyzing construction and maintenance projects. Ideally, you will possess experience in a related craft such as Power Plant Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Plant Operations. Experience in construction planning or estimating processes is preferred. Experience with Asset Management Fundamentals is essential. An electric generation facility or related industry fields are also preferred. Additionally, we desire candidates who bring the following knowledge and experience:
- Proficient in data input, analysis, and reporting using tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Project, Excel, and CMMS (Maximo)
- Extensive knowledge of engineering, construction, and operations work management principles, including scheduling, forecasting, and resource planning
- Demonstrated expertise in project management with strong attention to detail, ensuring accurate tracking, review, and analysis of schedules across all project phases
- Experienced in estimating electrical and mechanical costs for materials, labor, and contracted services, as well as planning maintenance and repair projects
- Skilled in electrical generation systems and components, including motors, pumps, compressors, mechanical systems, and gas turbines
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proven safety record supporting an incident- and injury-free workplace
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, and travel
