Planner Analyst (Gas)

The Colorado Springs Utilities Energy Work Management Department is seeking a highly motivated Planner Analyst to join the Gas Construction Planner Analyst Team. In this role, you will thoroughly plan, accurately schedule, and perform basic analysis for various Gas Construction and Operations work groups. This position directly impacts the success of our construction projects and the reliability of our gas distribution system. Your hard work, effective collaboration, and efficient resource management skills will help CSU continue to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective gas services to our ratepayers while also ensuring regulatory compliance.

In this position, you will be responsible for managing multiple programs of work, adhering to Work Management best practices, and promoting a collaborative culture. The successful candidate should have a significant amount of experience and knowledge related to Gas Construction and Operations principles and practices.

How you will make an impact:

  • Work requires knowledge and use of work management processes, including planning, scheduling, processing of work orders, and supply chain management
  • Schedule, prepare, plan, review, and analyze work order requests and projects, at times managing multiple projects at a time
  • Professionally collaborating with internal and external business partners and stakeholders towardsthe successful completion of planned projects
  • Estimate labor and equipment costs for proposed projects
  • Conduct pre-planning inspections and perform field job scoping tasks
  • Attend pre-construction meetings
  • Research and locate parts and materials
  • Create, maintain, and track valid long and short-term schedules using resources that satisfy demands.
  • Monitor multiple projects in accordance with set schedules through the use of analytical reports, resource leveling, forecasting, and master scheduling
  • Analyze, review, and monitor performance levels; recommend areas of improvement
  • Maintain and update the work management system (Maximo), related records, and reports
  • Comply with all safety and health programs in support of an incident and injury-free workplace

Who You Are:

  • Has a demonstrated understanding of construction processes and/or complex utility systems
  • Experienced with utilizing Maximo and other CSU systems of record
  • Possesses basic foundational Work Management knowledge and a desire to drive towards a “Best in Class” Work Management culture
  • Effective and tactful communicator, capable of building positive and productive working relationships
  • Strong technical skills related to data management and reporting
  • Highly adaptable and resilient, consistently demonstrates the ability to navigate change with a constructive and positive approach
  • Highly disciplined and methodical in scheduling, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and seamless coordination across all projects
  • An adaptable, self-motivated individual focused on team synergy, growth, and collaboration.

  • Successful completion of a utility apprenticeship and/or college degree in a related field is valued

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
