General Summary:
Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the workflow process to meet build schedules in accordance with budgets. Analyzes and anticipates project material requirements to ensure required materials are properly forecasted and driven. Manages the MRP system to ensure production cycle goals are met, including providing shortage reports, navigating deviations, and suggesting alternative build plans in alignment with changing business and supply factors. Communicates on-time delivery, delays, and/or changing priorities to all stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
OR
Associate's degree and 2+ years of related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field.
• APICS certification.
• 2+ years of experience planning and coordinating materials, production operations, or engineering project development.
• 1+ year of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
• 1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.
• 1+ year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the workflow process with minimal oversight to meet deadlines for projects using knowledge of planning parameters, purchase orders, supplier and inventory management, and MRP systems.
• Conducts and shares analyses and capacity forecasting with little oversight to understand material requirements and long-term demand, and resolve supply issues, based on knowledge of the product (e.g., production fabrication requirements).
• Inputs and maintains manufacturing requirements and item attributes from a Bill of Materials in MRP systems to drive materials for mid-scale projects with minimal guidance.
• Evaluates material impacts and shares recommendations for material disposition (i.e., use until depleted, scrap, or use as alternate), in collaboration with various functions (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain).
• Revises manufacturing orders (e.g., material availability, factory order requirements) based on design changes, manufacturing issues, and shifts in priorities; provides this information to team to inform build plan changes/alternatives.
• Executes and helps develop build plans by releasing material requirements for the entire project/production cycle of a given product or product line.
• Addresses, resolves, and documents deviations (e.g., engineering change requests or unexpected part shortages) with some guidance. Creates and provides shortage reports to team and manager.
• Gathers information from multiple sources and conducts analyses in order to identify, troubleshoot, document, and resolve issues.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Program Management, and Business Operations) to understand requirements, budgets, and goals.
• Makes sound, ethical, and timely decisions for one's area of work with limited guidance.
• Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with some supervision.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works independently with little supervision.
• Decisions are moderate in nature. Errors are detected and corrected with relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships. May require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. Role may require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
• Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department. Erroneous decisions, failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules and result in the re-allocation of some resources.
• Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
• Creativity is needed to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
• Deductive problem solving is required to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.
• Incumbent's input may be solicited during strategic planning period.
The responsibilities of this role do not include:
• Does not provide supervision to others.
• Has no influence over key organizational decisions.
