Production Planner

Mitsubishi Power is hiring a Production Planner in our Savannah Machinery Works location. The Production Planner will coordinate the production process to achieve an on-time project completion based on contractual requirements and operational lead-times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership.
  • Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Create work orders and schedule the releases of work orders to designated work centers.
  • Perform scheduling of released orders in the shop floor control system, manage work-in-process (WIP) and assist with physical movement of product throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Sort and control materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined shop floor priorities.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and inventory control the expediting of late arriving purchased material that can affect scheduled product completion and subsequent deliveries.
  • Confer with production management to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
  • Communicate program priorities for out-sourced production work.
  • Coordinate the final shipment of product with supervisors, project managers and shipping/receiving personnel.
  • Advises the Production Control Supervisor and Manufacturing Manager of anticipated problems, material shortages, engineering changes and/or equipment failures or major non-conformance of in-process product.
  • Check for planning errors during production and recommend corrective action.
  • Prepare purchase orders to maintain inventories of raw materials and finished products.
  • Evaluates written data, such as job orders, product specifications and operations sheets, parts and materials inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates, to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operation and workflow.
  • Maintain inventory records.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift operation and overhead crane operation certificates.
  • Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and advanced database knowledge of MPR, ERP and BOM processes.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require employer immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
