A Day in the Life

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and executing production plans to ensure efficient material flow and on-time delivery of finished goods. This role coordinates closely with manufacturing, sourcing, and cross-functional teams to balance demand, capacity, and inventory while maintaining accurate system data and planning parameters.

This role coordinates closely with manufacturing, sourcing, and cross-functional teams to balance demand, capacity, and inventory while maintaining accurate system data and planning parameters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, review, and execute production plans in alignment with demand and MPS signals
  • Convert demand requirements into actionable work orders and schedules
  • Coordinate with manufacturing to align production priorities and capacity constraints
  • Monitor plan adherence and adjust schedules as needed

2. Material Planning & Availability

  • Ensure timely availability of raw materials and components to support production
  • Collaborate with procurement to address shortages and expedite critical materials
  • Monitor supply risks and proactively implement mitigation plans

3. Inventory Management

  • Manage and optimize inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, and finished goods)
  • Support initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory
  • Balance service levels with inventory targets

4. System & Data Integrity (MRP/ERP)

  • Maintain accurate planning parameters (lead times, safety stock, lot sizes, yields)
  • Ensure data accuracy in the MRP/ERP system to drive correct planning signals
  • Support item setup, BOM maintenance, and ongoing data validation

5. Cross-functional Coordination

  • Partner with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and engineering teams
  • Participate in daily/weekly planning and execution meetings
  • Escalate supply, capacity, or demand risks as needed

6. Performance Management

  • Track and support key KPIs: Service level / OTIF Backorder / backlog Inventory performance Schedule adherence
  • Identify gaps and support continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or manufacturing
  • Understanding of MRP/MPS and supply chain fundamentals
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced English

Preferred

  • APICS CPIM certification (or in progress)
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to high-mix / high-volume production environments
