General

You will join a multidisciplinary team of professionals in a challenging but friendly environment. The role is available for 28 hours for a period of 6 months. The school community is international, which means both the educational programme and all business communication are done in English. Department

The Placement Coordinator works at the Placement Office. This department is responsible for the entire organisation of the international hotel internships (2nd yr) and the graduating internships on management level, performed within the broader hospitality industry. Per academic year, the Placement Office assists over 800 students with selecting and acquiring the right internships. Team Placement Office consists of 4 Placement Coordinators and 2 Placement Officers.

General function description

As go-to person for all students, the Placement Coordinator provides the framework for students within which they can find and secure their two mandatory internships. This includes hosting preparation classes, individual and group consultation sessions and advising students on the best professional match. The Coordinator is not involved in the execution phase of the internships but together, with tutor, will handle emergencies that might occur.

Placement Coordinator

  • Co-responsible for the design and execution of the two placement programmes

  • Dedicated coach for students in the midst of the decision-making process

  • Proposes pre-selected quality internships to students

  • Facilitates consultation hours for students

  • Serves as the key resource of information on placement preparation for colleagues and students

  • Responsible for the timeous placing of students

  • Prepares and executes placement preparation classes and career events

  • Is accountable for the quality of the matching of the students

  • Collaborates with account managers and lecturers to continuously improve and update the internship opportunities all over the world

  • Has contact with colleagues about the alignment between theory, in-house practical education and the internship programmes

  • Manages personal inbox and administration

Candidate profile

You have/are:

  • HBO level;

  • Experience in the area of the department;

  • Good understanding of hospitality and related industries;

  • Experience with coaching students or young professionals in the hospitality industry;

  • Agility to deal with different stakeholder levels;

  • Comfortable with making international phone calls, at all levels of partner organisations;

  • Excellent command of Dutch and English C1 level, both spoken and written; a 3rd language at at least B2 level is preferred;

  • Excellent coordinating skills;

  • Good persuasive skills;

  • Ability to work and effectively communicate under pressure;

  • Good organisational and administrative skills;

  • Empathetic to students and different cultures;

  • Familiar with using CMS/CRM systems; knowledge of Microsoft Office:

Remuneration

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 8 the labour agreement of Universities of Applied Science (CAO HBO) with a range between € 3.477,51 and € 4.595,29 gross per month, based on fulltime employment, depending on your professional experience and qualifications.

Additional information

For this role Hotelschool The Hague offers a 28-hour workweek, that can be divided over several days. The starting date for this position is as soon as possible depending on the notice period of the applicant.
